Default Used parallel distortion to process bass on this song

A few people recently asked me how I processed the bass guitar on this tune. I ran a Fender Jazz bass with the neck position pickup on full into the HiZ input of a UAD Apollo, into the Ampeg SVT-VR plugin in unison mode. I then sent the signal to an aux with a distortion pedal plugin (UAD Raw), and blended it in for parallel distortion. Listen free here: https://choon.co/tracks/21scmgjg1s/atomic-kid/

You can do this with any sort of interface and distortion plug. The main thing is to blend a dirty signal in with the clean signal, and emphasize the high end on the distortion channel, and keep the low end clean.

I don't care about the bass. I just like this music! Really great as I'm (was) kind of a great fan of Indie and Progressive Rock.

Many thanks for letting us listening to your work.

Thanks very much for listening, and for the feedback, I am glad you like the song! Oh, and forgot to mention, I used Reaper to mix it with for sure! Best daw I have ever used.

Cool tune! Vocals sit nicely and the bass sounds great! Can't complain about a thing.

Really enjoyed that. I'm a guitarist who loves to put bass in my projects, but I often lack the patience to see it through to a decent sound, not even close to the one you got there, which is perfect for that style of music.

Reminds me of those late 80s skate rock bands. Kind of like a faster paced HC band who slowed down and wrote more mature music.

I like it, a lot
