Default v4.0alpha66b - April 21 2011

v4.0alpha66b - April 21 2011
+ (66b) Toolbars: more fixes to arrangement logic
+ (66a) Undo: big improvement in undo/redo speed (should be closer to v3.x)

+ (66a) Project Bay: various optimizations, bugfixes and memory leak fixes1
+ Toolbars: optional double-width text buttons
+ Render Dialog/Batch Converter: allow incrementing filenames on demand to avoid overwriting
+ Render Dialog/Batch Converter: wildcards for tempo, time signature
+ MIDI Filter: dockable, remembers its last position and size
+ MIDI Editor: actions to move/trim left/right edge of notes to edit cursor
+ MIDI Editor: action to cycle through MIDI items follows the same order as the MIDI filter window
+ MIDI Editor: avoid deadlock when step sequencing using realtime MIDI inputs (cherry-pick to 3.x)
+ Playback: fixed anticipative FX RAM/CPU/playback issue when starting playback past end of project -- please test this so we can put it in 3.76 too
+ DDP export plug-in (thanks to Sergej Marsnjak!)
+ Snap: option to snap cursor to edge of media items on any track
+ Media items: clicking fade-in/out acts like clicking media item if no fade-specific mouse modifier is set
+ Media items: clicking fade-in/out sets cursor to fade end/start (similar to media item edge click)
+ Theme: theme/toolbar updates

Some craziness with my icons. Text icon color doesn't fit in, icon sizes are messed up. Where can I play with this doublewide option?

https://stash.reaper.fm/8428/alpha%20...%20toolbar.JPG

when it use to look something like this..

Also, I was really looking forward to seeing the midi filter dockable, but now I see you cannot dock it in the midi editor? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how that's of any use. Maybe it's time to start thinking about allowing dockers in within windows other than the arrange, or something similar?

musicbynumbers, can you make a zip with your toolbar icons and your reaper-menu.ini?

I guess you could dock it in the second bottom docker, to the right of the MIDI editor, and then create a screenset to load the two? They would at least be side by side until we can get actual docking inside the editor.

Default overly greyesqueish background?

Hi. First of all, thanks for the double wide toolbar buttons. Totally needed and useful.

Just wondering if anyone "feels" that the grey/gray background on some of the windows is too dark? Personally, I think it needs to be a little brighter as it looks a bit murky now. If it were html with black text, I'd definitely be going lighter, maybe 20-25%.

Pink problem when using doublewide icon. Also the doublewide icon seems to be blurry when compared to the single. Related?

Default + MIDI Filter: dockable, remembers its last position and size

Thanks for this!

One thing that would be cool is if it could remember being open or closed so that say double clicking a item would bring it up with the midi editor (seeing that it already closes when the midi editor is closed.

Schwa just zipped it up and trying to upload to the stash but it's 11 mb compressed (16 not compressed) how big a file can you put on the stash?

EDIT: too big for stash, could email to support if you can take a 12meg zip?

Really should streamline my toolbar icon folder at some point, is this a cause of the problem?

going to fresh install 4 soon too to see if that cures my load up probs.

Sweet, thanks!

Key, artist and album etc. would be nice if we can get some metadata support in the project settings...

Thanks a lot for the MIDI actions schwa It would be really handy one day to have API access to MIDI note stuff for custom scripts! Maybe down the road one day!

Default Project bay: solo still missing :)

I nearly forgot but not quite!

The actions to solo items are there still.

I guess there maybe some logic to why you took it out, care to share?

Is there anyway to split a toolbar docker?

I have a two screen setup (i imagine thats common). I have the midi editor and mixer in a 'toolbar docker' on the right screen.

The way it is currently implemented it is not terribly useful on a two monitor setup. It seems there is no way to dock the midi filter next to the midi editor (I kinda cheated it by moving the mixer to the left side but its less than ideal)

Disc Description Protocol. It's a standard format used to make exchangable files for CD audio manufacturing. IIRC Sampltiude/Sequoia, Pyramix and SADIE support this format as well.

Is the number of files that can be processed at once still limited?

I did stereo to mono conversions of a couple of thousand samples and I got stuck because the batch converter allows only a certain (unkonwn) number of files to be dragged in at once.

Looks pretty cool. Does anyone know of a proggie (cheap/free) that will burn a DDP to CD? With all those marker options/caveats about initial placement etc, I'd be pretty wary about sending something off to be replicated without checking that it's all working sweet...

I am assuming it is DDP2.0 right? How about DDP import?

Well this Sergej is me
Unfortunately there seams to be no free DDP import tool. However, I used 30-day trial version of Sonoris DDP Creator to test the files.

Yes, DDP2.0.
Currently there is no import, maybe it will be somewhere in the future.

speaking of import and export formats...
would it be possible to include m4a for both?

I and a few others have to deal with this nonsense on occassion on a pc...

the only workaround I am aware of is via dbpoweramp along with free front end they provide to run the nero m4a enc\decode command line exe's.... which are also free...

sure some that format is the restricted stuff that iTunes sells but still a lot of it is not at all restricted. So it would seen good if reaper could do this.

any thoughts?

oops something very wierd is now going on with toolbar icons...

I always have my pref's set to don't scale below 1:1 and also not abve 1:1 but now this is the first alpha that messes that all up

they are scaled about twice as big as they used to be so nothing fits correctly.... is this a new bug or????

I am not using the default theme but a mod of an older V4 default and until now it was all beautiful. ouch

While there's a bit of button love happening, any chance F2 could bring up the text icon dialog? It's a bit of a pain having to keep right-clicking them to change the description. Also, I can't possibly leave this topic without mentioning multi-function buttons (http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=78228).

V4 is shaping up to be really good. I'm starting to find myself frustrated working in V3.

have to add that the midi filter NEEDS to be docked to the midi editor!!!

& my main toolbar seems messed up

my midi tool-bar is also messed up,

it seems this update makes the icons a tiny bit bigger than a65b & before

no real problem as it is easy for me to edit my tool-bars & screen-sets!

Yes, you guys have misunderstood us. We don't want MIDI filter to be docked in the Docker! It needs to be docked to the right of MIDI editor! And PLEASE let us click the NAME of the item to switch to it!

I can also verify the issues with main and MIDI toolbar which Subz showed above. I don't like the additional space that's now obviously needed to preserve my toolbar width.

Also, once again, when I open ONE MIDI item, MIDI editor is fine and opens with size and position as saved in the INI file. If I then go and select MULTIPLE MIDI items (across several tracks), it's like the size and position in INI file is completely disregarded, and MIDI editor is opened completely shrunk down! That's a serious bug IMO. It's hard to reproduce, but I get the feeling it always happens when I update to new alpha. Try to look it up, guys, as it's a major workflow killer!

Also, we need an action which would show/hide filter window (docker or undocked) in MIDI editor context!
