Default Time Signature variables?

Is there any way to get the current time signature? I can't find anything in the documentation. Maybe I'm missing it or there is a trick. I'm trying to get this to work in time signatures other than 4/4, which would require knowing at least the numerator.

Press Shift+C to enter time signature marker.
There you can change the signature (check mark) and tempo.
