X-Touch-mini with Motor-Fader simulation
The X-Touch-mini is well prepared to simuate Motor-Faders with its endless encoders and LED circles.
After many wrong attempts here a successful solution for feeding back the track volume and track mute states back to X-Touch-mini, so that changes made in reaper GUI are reflected at the controller LEDs, just like one would expect from motor faders. What is this setup useful for? Cheap "motor faders"-like performance for Reaper with X-Touch-mini. Move 16 Channel Faders in Reaper via the 8 Encoders in X-Touch-mini Layer A, plus 8 Encoders in Layer B Move 16 Channel Faders in Reaper via mouse and feed the values back into the Encoders in X-Touch-mini, represented by LED circles Set Mute-State in 16 Channels via Controller or Reaper-GUI, state sync in both directions Master-Volume-Fader (no LED-Feedback inbuilt, hence no "motor-fader-like" behaviour on this one fader possible.) Transport buttons mapped. Installation steps: 1) Install X-Touch-mini Editor for Windows V1.21 https://www.behringer.com/Categories...oogtrans(en|en) 2) Load provided XTouch-mini_LayerA-absolute-fan-togglebuttons-and-transport.bin into the Editor and press the button "Dump A" Load provided XTouch-mini_LayerB-absolute-fan-togglebuttons.bin into the Editor and press the button "Dump B" 3) Download ReaLearn 1.7.1 https://www.helgoboss.org/projects/r...etting-started 4) Install the DLL to: REAPER\UserPlugins\FX\ReaLearn\ReaLearn.dll 5) Open or create in Reaper a project with 16 audio tracks Create a 17th track via Track - Insert virtual instrument on new track ... Choose: VSTi: ReaLearn (Helgoboss) 6) In the FX-Window of ReaLearn press the [+] button - Import preset library ... choose provided Realearn_Preset_XTouch-mini-Tracks-Mute-Volume-Transport.RPL After import select the new preset from the drop-down-list "Realearn_XTouch-mini-Tracks-Mute-Volume-Transport" Test if Volume Encoders on X-Touch-mini controller will move the Track faders in Reaper Test if the movement of Track faders in Reaper feed back their values to the LED circles of the X-Touch-mini Encoders Test the Mute buttons on the controller and in Reaper, are they synced? Test the Transport buttons to interact with reaper. (here LED transport state feedback may have still few issues) |

Thanks a lot for sharing all that. I have failed several times trying to do that and will sure try your solution!

I had to remap some things in realearn (for some reason, everything was mapped to tracked 1)
But now it works nicely. With just the exception of the play button light feedback witch do not seem to follow play state but thats not an important feature at all. Thanks a lot! |

Good to know the results are reproducible, even including the
> LED transport state feedback may have still few issues) So the last 5% improvement are now a community effort. :-) |

This is awesome! got it working but now when I open the template back up all leds on the encoders move when turning one encoder and only one track highlighted....it doesn't move the soft fader but again moves all leds so when I go to move another encoder the soft fader jumps to the led....anyone experience that?
I changed layer B to control the pans and it set up perfect but when opening the template back up it does the same....move one encoder and all leds for all encoders move. |

Got it! I guess it helps to save the preset when making changes.

Ok...so I'm confused again, lol How exactly do I save the preset? When I go into the Realearn drop down and save the preset, close out reaper and load it on a new project go to my saved preset it seems to revert back to it original state where everything is mapped to track 1. Am I missing something? It seems the only way to do it is to go back to the original project. When I save it as a template I get the same results.

Dumb question: how easy does X-Touch mini make it to record automation lanes?
I don't mind adjusting parameters with the mouse most of the time, the lack of a controller feels the most dire to me when I have to edit automation in real time. I'd consider getting a controller if it had the power to make it feel like a performance rather than painstakingly fiddling a tiny circular knob with a mouse xD |

It works, with modification...
It has already been mentioned that it only worked for track 1 but easily corrected to work by editing.
Initially I tried the original version with the x-touch mini modified settings but later changed them to the default and made sure all switches were in momentary mode. To make these to function properly you need to set the following for the buttons: (check) Send feedback after control (select type) Toggle for buttons only There is lots more that I'm trying, but that's a good start. |

The Track-Assignment 1-8 is recalled from ReaLearn-Preset
with latest ReaLearn v2.8.0-pre2 and the Setting in Mapping [Edit] Target: Track [by Position] 5 (the individual track number 1...8) |
