Default FX Browser : Filter positioning

In v6.12 we got "FX browser: minor reorganization of controls"

Can we please have an option in the context menu to show the Filter field and Clear button at the bottom? As it was in earlier versions.

That'd be a nice option to be able to select.

I've been thinking having an option to show plugin format at the end instead of hiding it outright would be convenient too. As of right now, there's two options: Show plugin format (VST, VST3, etc) at the beginning, which makes custom folders alphabetize by their plugin format, rather than plugin name (not ideal IMO), or to remove the plugin format altogether. Removing the plugin format allows custom folders to alphabetize by name which is quite nice, but then I have no idea if it's a VST, VSTi, or VST3. Being able to put the plugin format at the end of the name would be a nice addition too, while we're on the topic.

Yeah, I completely don't understand why they just removed this option.

It just looks plain weird (at least on Windows), because there is empty space under the actual list now. There is the OK and CANCEL buttons there anyway, like in a normal dialog box, and now the list browser real estate is smaller because the filter has been moved above the list.

It makes no logical sense.

Counterpoint:

1. It makes perfect logical sense to have the search box at the top. Where just about every search box everywhere goes.

2. There is no empty space if you side-dock your FX Browser. The empty space only appears when floating because the Add and Cancel buttons appear.

Friendly suggestion: try using it side-docked with a drag and drop workflow for a week or two and see if that works for you. For side-dockers, the latest updates are great.

Wow, I thought it was me who tweaked some option, before noticing this thread...

Can't wait to get it back at the bottom...

Well I asked for it and it definitely makes sense for me. With many custom fx folders, searching all plugins was a PITA, since the search bar was as far as possible from "all plugins." I was however surprised they changed it without it being optional. Pretty unusual.

Could you please tell me where I can change this? I can't find the option anywhere to not show plugin format.

Thanks!

You talking about this one? Right click in top of FX Browser then Show FX in List -> Plugin Prefixes. That will hide the plugin format (VSTi, VST3i, etc.) from the front of the plugin in the browser.

I support too!

It's very uncomfortable that search box it's on top of the FX browser. I need to move opened plugins to get that search box every time I want to add next FX in chain

Please, make the option to have it on the bottom, like in previous versions.

I'd fully support a "Always search all plugins" option in the browser. I'd forever keep it enabled.

+1 from me too. And also to the return of the search dialog to the bottom of the window.

While we're at it - any chance we can have a way to make the plugin browser window font larger?

Bring it back! Give us selection too. "Always search among all plugs" is also good.

I was about to ask for a way to sort/prioritize duplicate plugins... when I stumbled upon the option accidentally!

In FX browser, under options, "Duplicate plugins of different types", can set priority...

But then of course it leaves us with the problem being discussed in this thread: how to hide the plug-in type from the view window.

Should be a "check box" to accomplish that... enabled if one has set priorities...
