Depends what you want to do. For a playback loop, make a time selection at the top of the screen (in the timeline). Click the 'circle with arrow button' to the right of the 'play' button. Move cursor before the selection and press play; it should repeat. If it's midi (same selection process), you may wish to open the midi editor window before you press play, to see the selection better.
For loop recording, there are more actions needed, so search for 'loop recording'...

I assume OP's question can be realized with a Custom Action.
Assigned to a keyshort, to trigger the Custom Action, would give fast(est) workflow IMO.
Mouse dragging takes time and time is money.
