Default How to clean up split MIDI

I'm aligning MIDI to a timeline (not the other way round).

I usually avoid this for the following reason, but this time I really need to find the work around.

How do I get two notes which are the same pitch and are perfectly adjacent (note off of the first note is the same as note on of the second) to merge in a MIDI item, to clean up after my splits?

The 'join notes' feature only works if you select the touching notes. Too much work for a 60 minute file.

Hi Fergler, so you're splitting the midi items in the arrange area to align the notes to the grid?

If that's the case why not use the midi editor?

If that's not the case, could you explain in a little more detail what you're trying to do?
