Default Real Time CPU load

On Windows, in the performance meter, we don’t have both CPU loads (Total CPU and RT CPU like in p42 of the manual... and perhaps like Cubase which displays an average load and a « real time peak load »). There is only a single « CPU ».

The peak load is important since we risk to have dropouts when the time to compute a buffer is greater than 80%.

I write 80% since the MMCS priority gives critical threads a high priority only 80% of the time, it could be tune to 90%.

Right-click in the Performance dialog and you will have options to enable RT CPU meter and some other stuff.

Ok thanks.

Oddly, the time to compute a buffer is sometime superior than the size of the buffer (RT longest block), but the RT load doesn’t reach 100%. I would guess that the RT CPU should be the RT longest block divided by the block lengh in ms.

That's probably because of Reaper's anticipative processing.

RT CPU figure is basically telling you main audio thread load. If that's close to 100%, you'll get crackles/dropouts.

I get them around 30% RT CPU...Might be a setting I had to get amp sims to run nicer at low latencies. I wonder what all settings would affect this

Ancipated processing... surely not : I had only a live track. No pre-recorded tracks.
