Default Rewire Slave Problem

Hi,

I am currently evaluatin reaper. the reason I am trying it is because of it's capabilities of being a rewire slave. I tried slaving it to jeskola buzz, which works but the buzz rewire plugin uses up excessive amoutns of cpu (20% playing 2 audio tracks in reaper on my athlon 3200), in addition to this the audio stutters and renders the whole combination unusable. To make sure that it was not the buzz rewire plugs fault I tried the same combination using Ableton Live and this runs very smoothly, with negligeable cpu use and no stutturing , clicking audio. I don't want to use Ableton Live however... too expensive for my needs.

Let me know if you require any further information on my setup etc to investigate this. I will see if I can get some other buzz users to test the same to see if the problem is reproducable on other machines.

thanks
tox

wow quick response..

do you mean buzz's internal buffer size or my asio buffer size?

asio:
352 samples.. at 44.1

buzz internal:
anything from 1 to 256

I'd suggest trying larger sizes.. the way we do ReWire slaving is a bit higher latency than I'd like..

ok i can get it to work relatively well at 50ms (!) asio latency. it works so-and-so at 20ms... I realise rewire slave capability was added very recently so maybe further work on it is planned?

I don't know the rewire specs very well but it appears audio input is not available to REAPER when running as a rewire slave, is this the case? If so, is there any way around it?
