Default Newbie to Reaper

I am very new to home recording. This is my first real attempt at throwing something together. My equipment list is as follows, Tascam US1800, CAD Touring mic set, tama drums, squier strat and Pbass. I ran all guitars direct thorugh my amp and used a OD pedal and delay. I used amp simulations in Reaper and some various VST effects. Im not too ashamed of how it came out. Let me know what you think. This is a cover of Soulshine just the instrumental. Dont mind the mistakes most was on first take

sounds good.
i have a similar set up.
a tascam us1641 a cad pro 4 drum mics.
i'd be interested in your mic placement for the drums - especially overheads.
and what you did in your mix.

I have the snare mic aimed towards the center of the head, the tom mics are as close to the edge of the drum as possible. Kick drum is on a boom inside the drum pointed directly at the beater and I have the resonant head removed. The overheads are bout 2 feet directly above the cymbals and angled in slightly towards the drums.

The mix has compression and reverb on the master drum track with a touch of EQ. Each individual track has some gating and compression. I've used a lot of the stock presets but I altered the verb a bit by pulling down the wet control slightly.

Right on man!
A great example of a great recording with "little" gear.

cheers
