Default Double click suddenly not working in single project

I was mixing a project yesterday, and somewhere along the line, my double left click stopped responding to anything. I can't open a vst by double clicking, I can't reset my fader to 0 by double clicking. It works in other projects, but not the one I'm working on.

Also side note: When I hold left click and drag a knob on any of my VSTs, the knob will be responsive, but will randomly wiggle up or down without any mouse movement. Let's say I Wana set a compressor to 12db. When I hold my left click on the knob and start to drag up, I'll watch the knob quickly turn to 0db then right back to where it was at 12db. That happens with any parameter I try to manipulate via left click. On an EQ, it will randomly drag the selected band all the way down, and in the blink of an eye, back to where it is supposed to be at my mouse cursor.

Only happens in this one project when I was in the middle of mixing. but I don't know why or how it happened.
Thanks for any feedback or suggestions!

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have one session that just started doing the same thing. Double clicking doesn't work on anything, making a time selection in the ruler looks super glitchy, and scrolling is choppy and slow to respond. Every other session I've opened works totally fine.

This just happened to me too.

The project I was working on stopped accepting double clicks (for renaming tracks, opening MIDI-clips, etc), while in the same instance of REAPER, double clicking works in another project tab.

Any help greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Reinstalling REAPER v6.21 doesn't fix the issue. Rebooting doesn't fix this issue.

EDIT2: Installing REAPER v6.20 doesn't fix the issue.

Default sticky double click

v6.23 : I have noticed issues with double clicking on the channel bar to write the name. 2-3 double clicks before it highlights for me to write in it. seems to have a long lag time before it kicks in.
Also, noticed the double clicking wasn't happening quickly on the pan knob either or on the transport background to open a new channel. problem has also affected the FX menu, where I used to be able to add an effect with a double click, now I can only use the ADD button.
Update : It seems to work normal on a brand new song with nothing recorded in it yet, but on a song recorded with version 5 with lots of tracks and FX it is slow or unresponsive.

Same here!

It started when I bought a new mouse, so at first I just figured it had something to do with that, but double-clicking works fine anywhere else. It's just in Reaper it doesn't work for some things, like double clicking the name of a plug-in in the FX-browser to insert it. Weird.

Me as well, I joined the forum to report this. It's a major issue.

The same happened to me. Doubleclicking wasn’t working. I use a separate button on a4tech mouse for double click. Then I changed a macro that uses for this button and inserted slightly bigger delay of 64 msec between “button down- button up, button down - button up” steps of this macro. And instantly it helps. No more issues with double click. Later I updated mouse driver and default macro for double click seems work fine also. I don’t know what helps exactly, but now the problem’s gone.

Likewise, just ran into this bug as well. It's very frustrating and strange- it renders working in the affected project impossible .

The problem has appeared again( In many projects this time. It works not on every time to be more precise. Ahhh... Is there some ini setting in Reaper to increase time between clicks for doubleclick detecting? Maybe that will help.

Damn. Looks like I'm in the club.

I assumed it was because of one plugin. But after deleting it, I ran into a problem again when I added several plugins to the project. I tried different versions of Reaper, but it's useless: even the old 5.984 after a clean install and default settings causes this problem. Portable or not, it doesn't matter. Double click doesn't always work. It seems that if you double-click very quickly, then there will be a flawless operation. But I can't work like that.

I guess it has something to do with GUI plugins. In the full project, this is reproduced like this:

1. If I open a project, the mouse initially works as it should.

2. I open and close the GUI of several plugins (Kontakt, several instances of Serum, Pro-Q2, OTT and The Glue).

3. The mouse stops working properly.

Also, I tried different options: 60 or 144Hz screen refresh rate, removing custom plugins and reapack, close various background processes. Nothing worked.

Judging by several threads here, this problem has been around for quite some time and still hasn't been resolved...

I'm in frustration...

yo i'm finding this here as well!!

Double click just ain't working sometimes.

I even assigned a mouse shortcut button to be 'double click' and it won't work 3/5 times.

Is it the double click speed that is the problem?

Someone says a plugin connected to the internet may be the cause?

In all other software around my PC, double click works fine. In Reaper it does not.

Was not always like that. What is the true cause of this?

For me it was Empirical Labs Arousor. The reason it took so long for me to find which plug-in was the problem is because it didn't start causing a problem until a later update (I think it was v2.3.0), and since it had never caused any problems earlier, I didn't suspect it.

I've noticed that these kinds of double-click problems is not contained to Reaper alone. People on Steinberg forums, Live forums and Presonus forums also complain from time to time about the same problem. It seems to always stem from a bad 3rd party VST.

A lot of problems do stem from 3rd party plugins.

But for example, when I fire up Superior Drummer in Reaper, the double clicks are very responsive within the Superior Drummer window. It's just the main Reaper window that acts up with sluggish double clicks.
