That looks like part of the intent of this plug in -- to limit (i.e., clip) the signal to a particular volume.
You use the "Adjustment" slider to make the volume louder or softer. But if it goes over the volume you set with the "Max Volume" slider, it will get clipped. The more it goes above "Max Volume", the harder it will clip. So perhaps raise the "Max Volume" slider so that the signal doesn't get clipped by the JS effect. Just make sure that it doesn't go over 0 dBFS when it gets to the master track.
FYI, as a test I set the "Max Volume" all the way up, and set the fader on the track to -18 dB, so that the signal from the plugin would have to be above +18 dB for it to clip the master track. I could raise the "Adjustment" slider so that the signal coming out of the plugin was just below +18 dB and it didn't clip inside the plugin. That's what I expected. The plugin should only clip the signal if it exceeds the "Max Volume" setting (which my test didn't).
I haven't used this "Volume Adjustment" plugin until now. I prefer the "Volume/Pan Smoother" plugin. It's not designed to limit the signal volume.
