Default Recording with WMD Kernel Streaming

I'm trying to record in Reaper using a 16-bit mixer and WMD Kernel Streaming. There is no option to output through my PC's HD audio (rear panel), is there any way to make this possible? I can't monitor through my mixer because everything goes through the main channel and is then re-recorded. I'm also experiencing a lot of input lag when recording. I've already tried to reduce the buffer size and amount but no luck... Any help?

Don't use WDM.

Try WASAPI or free ASIO4all driver.

Okay I'll give WASAPI a try, but I was trying to avoid using ASIO4All because in my opinion everything sounds a bit bright and "dry", if that's the right word...

ASIO is direct connection to soundcard. If your sound with other drivers is different it's likely because you are playing through some enhancements....and while this may make your music sound better on your computer your mixes may sound completely different when you play them elsewhere

Okay... I haven't added any enhancements myself, maybe it's something that's done automatically. 99% sure I can hear a difference though
