Mouse modifiers
Where do i set the mouse behaviour for left click and left drag in the arrange area (No tracks, No items)?
At the moment left click is set to deselect. That's what i selected in the "tracks" menu i guess.
CMD + left click is set to "select time selection".
ALT + left click is set to "select time selection (ignore snap)".
Where do i change the last two???
I am on a Mac btw.
I have to say the whole mouse modifier menu is really confusing.
All options should be available in all areas!
Except for those interacting with item obviously.

Nope. That will only let me change right and middle mouse clicks not left clicks.
That's the problem!

For open areas of the arrange view, try the "Track" context in the Mouse Modifiers preferences.

That's what i thought too but CMD + left drag is set to draw midi region. It does that on a track. Obviously not in the empty area. There it switches to "set time selection". And that's what i want to change. I guess it's not possible.
Left click and left drag should be added to the arrange context!
But thanks for all the input so far!

The Track context is as close as possible to what you want. There is no modifier for an empty arrange AFAIK.

What do you want it to do? You know you can double click on the 'modifier-behaviour' row and select 'no action'..yes?

I would love to change it to loop selection instead of time selections.

You can do it in the track context (not arrange view context).
Double click on the row where it says 'Default action-Select time'
Change the action to 'Edit loop points'.
But if you have un-ticked 'Loop points linked to time selection' in Menu/ Options, I guess you'd need to create another way of doing time selection ....Alt + left drag is free (in my setup).

Hi Goldreap,
thanks for the input but it's not in the track context.
CMD + left drag is set to draw midi region.
But when i do CMD + left drag in the arrange area (not on tracks) i can do a time selection.
That's what i want to change.
Again i don't think it's possible and i do think the Mouse Modifiers menu needs updating!

Unfortunately, I am not sure that I understand what you would like to do.
Do I understand correctly that you want to use
* CMD+leftdrag
* in an empty area of the arrange view (where there are no items)
* to draw a loop selection?

Just to be sure, you know you can double click a row then change the action from a list? By row I mean for example your grey highlighted row in the pic.

Any update on this issue?
I find the normal behaviour for the single click in the "Envelope Lane" section quite annoying when I want to create a single dot. "Left drag" and "double click" are available. but "single click" is not. Is there a reason for that?

I'd like to use my touchscreen to scroll the arrange window with no modifiers (i.e. left drag)
Looks like this is still not possible in the V6.
Got very hopeful when I saw the new Multitouch options page
Pinch-zooming does seem to work.

'Insert envelope point' and 'Freehand draw envelope' should create just one point even if you do a single click, no need to drag. The click/drag behaviour is just consolidated into one action, so for example you can either click (insert point) or click then drag (insert point and move it)
I figure 'Left drag' in the envelope contexts ought to be called 'Left click/drag' like is listed for the new MIDI CC lane stuff in v6

I also find it bizarre and confusing that you can only select certain gestures in certain contexts.
Why can you only "right drag" in the MIDI editor? If you can right drag there, certainly you can left drag too. but only "right drag" is on the list.
I want to change everything that is in MIDI Editor -> Right Drag to MIDI Editor -> Left Drag. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do this?
Piano Roll has a "left drag" but not a "right drag". This might have been intended to prevent conflicts, but if we could swap both, there would be no conflict.
Are there any workarounds with editing the text files or with scripting?

I tried using mouse modifiers about two years ago, I just gave up, I just found it so limited. Could not do what I wanted it to do.

Need Help With My Mouse
I don't know how I did this, but years ago I set my mouse to zoom in/out when I held my left mouse button down and then Zoom in/out with my track ball. However, when I go to mix and set my range over the area to render, it's so fussy, it wants to Zoom in/out while I try to grab the region marker (hold left button and drag) when setting the region, and I don't know how to get it to stop doing this anymore.
Where should I look? Any tips?
Thanks

I think some of the functions on mouse modifiers are limited, probably because it would be too susceptible to bugs, or people would change it to certain things which could create bugs, so they'd have to go and limit to specific actions, or something like that, and it's just too much of a can of worms.
I for one am thankful for the level of customization that I do get.

But somehow I did this in Reapers Preference (I think)
Now I’m trying to undo what I did but I don’t remember how, it’s been years since I set it up.

They may have previously allowed it, and then discovered a potential for bugs, and couldn't find an easy solution so they removed the customizability for that? Idk.
