Default MIDI editor note reordering

Hi,

Does anyone know why this keeps appearing in the pre-release versions - but not in the release ones?

I haven't tried it yet - I'm waiting until it is in a released version, so I don't screw up any of my MIDI note files (for Superior drum kits).

Are there problems with it?
or just trying to figure out what users are looking for?

These are pre-release builds. The goal is for end-users to "check out" the new features, identify if there are problems with these features, report them, and hopefully, once the developers deem it stable enough, it gets rolled out into the main version of Reaper as part of a future release.

If you're interested in this feature you can either 1) participate in the testing/reporting process, or 2) wait until it does (or does not) make it into an official release.

It works pretty well but I'm not sure it's totally perfect just yet. Hence why it hasn't been rolled out.

Thanks Funkybot.
I was just wondering why it's been in quite a few pre-releases, bu tnever makes in to an actual release yet.

Can any of you explain the meaning of "midi editor note reordering"?

Let's say you're working with Drum Instruments like "BFD3" for example. You enter "Named Note" view and now you're looking at the note names.

You may want to change the order of how these names appear to say, put all the hihats next to each other. Now you can Ctrl+drag to do this in the Reaper pre-releases.

It only impacts the display of the notes in the named note view. Doesn't change any mapping.

Also works well for sample libraries where maybe you want to change the order or location of some keyswitches.

I just think it hasn't been a top priority. Seems like Media Item Lanes and Render/Metering has been getting the attention these days.

Ty for the explanation. I think I might be really useful for the keyswitches. I'm gonna test the drum kit stuff now.

Ty again.

I think it will be really handy for drum kits (Superior Drummer here) - I've just seen some people having problems in th epre release discussions.
I can't remember what the problems were though

A few were fixed. It wasn't retaining settings when switching views, or gluing items. Nothing major.

I suggest trying it out and reporting issues. It won't break anything if it doesn't appear in a future release and you used it in a project.
