Default Import DDP with Markers and PQ information

I'd love to see Reaper be able to handle this. Its great that it can import a DDP image, but without all of the metadata and markers its a bit useless for any professional purposes. I know people here use Hofa Cd+DDP burn (I have used Soundblade for years) but Reaper should just take over and destroy all of the mastering DAWs. Its so much better in every respect.

I couldn't agree more.
You can import all the markers from a imported DDP when you run the action: "Item: Import item media cues as project markers"

DDP needs a few things to make it more complete in Reaper.
Currently there is no way to add sub indexes, and Reaper needs a DDP marker editor.

Anyway, check out that action.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Wyatt

Oh thats great! Thanks, I'll check it out. Definitely, Reaper is so close to being a be all end all for DDP.

OOPPS.
I forgot, there is also another action that lets you toggle item cues.
That has to be on, I think, then run the other action as mentioned.

It's been awhile since I've imported a DDP. I'll check it out, and report back.

Edit: Run this action first and make sure item cues are on.
"View: Toggle show media cues in items"
You should be able to actually see the little cues on the ddp .dat file depending what theme you are using.
Then run the action: "Item: Import item media cues as project markers"

Regards,
Wyatt

Aha! This seems to work well with DDPs Reaper has made. I couldn't get it to work with DDPs other programs had made.

How do I tell if "View: Toggle show media cues in items" is on or off? For the future...

If you look at the action window, there is a scroll bar at the bottom.

Find that action, and scroll to the right, and you will see the on off text.

Recently I switched from Windows to Mac and I can't seem to import DDP Dat files anymore, on Windows it worked perfectly! Any ideas? Am I missing something? Wyatt, are you planning to do an updated version of ddp2cue writer? use it a lot and my Mac notified me that the program had to be updated, otherwise it wouldn't work on future versions of OSx... Thanks!!

Problem solved! Opening the DDPMS file did the trick on the Mac... Can import ddp's for reference again!

Hi Rene.
Glad you got the DDP imported on Reaper.
Regarding DDP To Cue Writer, it should still work.
It's an unsigned app because I didn't pay Apple $99.00 a year to get it signed.

Let me know if you get it working.

I do plan an update when I get some time.
Ideally, I plan on a re write of the app to be included with the DDP marker editor gui extension at some point.

Many Thanks,
Wyatt

Thanks Wyatt! I missed the Marker Gui, so also really happy with that! I installed a Python script, a while ago, but that's only useful for ddp's which are redbook standard, which doesn't work all of the time for me... These days I also use Protools and Logic, but for mastering Reaper is still my preferred way to go!

Yeah, check out the DDP marker editor gui.
I plan on releasing a new version of that too with the new version of Reaper coming out, that will have render button, and you can render from there with a button click.
Thanks,
Wyatt

just installed the marker gui! It's fantastic! Really speeds up my workflow! It's still a shame that we can't do sub-indexes with Reaper, but so be it... I was looking for other DDP options over the past few weeks, but now that I can import my DDP's again and work with this marker list, there's no need to, anymore! So I'll stick with Reaper again for my DDP needs! Great job, Wyatt and if you need someone to test a Mac version, don't hesitate to contact me! You should have my email, I guess...
Looking forward to the new version!
Rene

Default Thanks for the media cue import tip.

Just decided to bring this thread to focus again because others might benefit from it.

Recently I've been coping with DDP images and the idea of importing DDP media cues as markers helped me a lot, because then you can create regions from these markers and prepare files for digital distribution.

I never even thought of REAPER importing DDP images as media items, but the double rewardI've gained today was incredible. REAPER is really amazing.
