Nice work, Mark. I hadn't even seen this theme yet. Wow, the stuff I'm missing.

9-13-2011 Improved track panels and added some vector-ish track icons.
Removed dark layout because sizes and positions of elements are all different now. Once I'm completely happy, I may build new dark layouts. I'm considering that retro green on black.

This theme is turning out to look great... I guess the choice of font marked a great turning point... keep up the creativity!

Mark - loving this theme of yours too.
It looks to me like you're using monospaced fonts. There comes a day for every programmer when s/he starts looking for a better monospaced font. I found a nice selection at http://hivelogic.com/articles/top-10-programming-fonts/. Any use to you?

In the screenshots, I'm using Swiss 721 Cn Bt, but when installed on a machine without that font, I don't know what Reaper will substitute for it. Those fonts in your link look good. You know, I toyed with one of those digital-clock fonts but it never came out quite right.
Oh, and for those who are keeping track, check this out...
The changes here are preliminary to a really geeky idea. I cleared everything off the right side of the frames in order to make some new layouts for folders. That is, using layouts called "folder start/middle/end", I will make child tracks seem to appear inside the LCD frame of the parent.

It's my office laptop. I steal company time and pass the savings on to you. The actual recording PC at home is running with Line6 gear and drivers.

Wonderful work so far!
Mark, there's a suggestion i would like to make ... could u try limiting the types of fonts in the UI to 1 or 2? It would help to bring a more cohesive nature to the theme...
So far, all the elements look beautiful.. this 'might' help.
Great job man!

Tentative folder layout.
I'm surprised how there are no comments on buttons disappearing. Also, nobody asked what the heck are MIDI buttons and Battery buttons and the keyboard icon.
I decided to make this theme more selfishly than usual. The graphics of course, are peculiar with all the "wasted" space. But more than that, I finally started tracking with this theme and noticed the way I work.
Drums are my Battery template, always arranged in the same order, and there are buttons I never touch. The idea came to make it into a little submixer. The first track is the folder parent, and I only use mute/solo/fx/and volume, occasionally recording output and muting the children (freezing). The second track houses the Battery plugin and MIDI items. The only buttons worth touching were the Recarm for playing it via controller, the FX bypass to save CPU after freezing, and the FX window to tweak the plugin. So the big "Battery" button is the FX bypass, the folder brings up the plugin, and the keyboard icon arms it for playing via controller. The child tracks with kit pieces are the multiple outputs from the plugin and I only ever touch the simple mixer functions. Voila, simplified drum machine interface.
The Kontakt routing is more complicated, but I continued the idea of the FX Bypass as an on/off switch for the plugin. The "MIDI" button is actually the Mute button in different clothes (for silencing MIDI output to the plugin after rendering to audio), and the keyboard icon for Recarm for controller input.
So I'm messing with generic folders now. I have a typical double tracked guitar setup, and typical background vocal setup, and I am paring things down to what I like to look at and touch. Default tracks with still have to have all the buttons on them, but I hope to streamline them.
Also, there will be an overhaul of the TCP. Now that I'm using Iron Giant in anger, I see the panels need to squish down because I like to see all the tracks up there.

I think it's a brilliant design. Keep working it chief.
Someday I hope to see a Theme where the TCP can look similar only with the Neon Green and Black hardware look to it, like an old D50, etc.
After decades of staring at little LCD's you'd think I'd be over it, but I actually had a rack of S760's back in the day, and they had RGB out's to a rack mounted 4 x 8,5" LCD's. and I still was addicted to the little LCD,s and that was in '92.........
Thanks For Your COntributions, they are original and unique.

Ok, I updated the theme just now, see the link in the first post. Be aware that it is a work in progress, and I'm now building it for my own workflow, so there may be things missing that you like for your workflow.

That MIDI track is locked to that large size because the Recarm is on. If you turn the Recarm off, it will squeeze down again. The rtconfig file in Walter has 4 states for the TCP, and one of those states is the Recarm state, which traditionally in Reaper maximizes to show all the controls. I'll soon be revising the TCP to be more compact, and I can give some thought to a Recarm size that is not so tall. I realize TCP is way too tall in general, and I locked the size to preserve the LCD window look, but I'm going to have to change it for function over form.

Thanks Mark, I tested it and it was really nice. I use shortcircuit with 8 stereo out tracks and your folder idea really makes those all look like it should, that they belong together.
Nice work
