Default Subprojects break with "Do not automatically render subprojects" setting

I thought maybe this was a bug with my config, but I tried it on a fresh install and got the same result. Windows 10, Reaper 5.979 dev.

Steps to repro:
-Set "Project tabs: Do not automatically render subprojects (require manual render)" to on
-Select tracks with items in them
-Track: Move tracks to subproject
-File: Save project and render RPP-PROX

At that point, I get an error that I can't overwrite the file. Also, I should point out that if you use "Track: Move tracks to subproject" on empty tracks, it sets both the start/end times in the subproject to 0 and never actually adds the subproject file to your master project.
