Default Amplitube (newb)

Hi all..my first post here..looks like an awesome forum for a Newbie like me...I have been playing for about 5 years....mostly classic rock stuff..just wanted to do rythum and solo track recording...I have Amplitube and have read the manuals for Reaper and Amplitude and have successfully installed GreenMachine plugin but I cant get Reaper to recognize Amplitude...have pionted it to the AMplitude installed directory..and hit apply...have even copied the Dll and other files from Amplitude directly into Reaper directory and pointed reaper to that directory...still no luck...it looks to be a really versatile plug in and would love to use it...I have an AC97 audio...will upgrade today ...is the AC97 restricting it from using Amplitude?

Thanx in adavnce!

Mine works fine. As long as you have the VST preferences pointed at whatever folder the Amplitude dll and setting are in:

Options>Preferences--> Plugins>VST add the folder to the directory paths (you can have multiple paths defined).

It should work fine. There should be the Amplitude.dll, amplitude.xrs, an Amplitude Preferences file and a folder called Amplitude Settings in the folder.

(I keep all my VST plugins in a folder on the root of my C: drive just so I can find them easier and point multiple music programs at it....)

So Pipe which in your opinion comes closest to the real thing?

Just googling now for them so I can try them out. Thanks

Aside from the denormal bug, the simulanalog plugins are GREAT if they are the setting you are looking for. There isnt too much versatility to me in those, but the sounds they do, they do EXTREMELY well to me.

The StudioDevil can do lower gain stuff which is so hard to get not just in plugins but in anything other than a real tube amp, transistor amps and modelers never pull this off right to me, but studiodevil does

And Juicy 77, I usually disengage the speaker cab and put in my own impulse response. I have the most fun with this plugin for sure. It feels real enough and has the gain for some serious shred tones.

I guess that totally misses answering the question but, they're all great. I wouldnt hesitate to use these plugins instead of micing an amp, unless I am SURE the guitar player can play his part right twice in a row, and I have ample time to mic the cabs.

Which is an extremely rare situation lately, so these plugs see some heavy use around here.

I like "Extremist" for... well, extreme guitar sounds.
This guy has a 31eq for tweaking, too.

I don't think I've seen Voxengo's free Boogex mentioned yet. It is a very capable amp sim that you can load impulse responses into!

I have/use/love Amplitube actually, it really gives me "my sound". But then I don't use a lot of gain/distortion, which is where Amplitube tends to mush out. But for clean to gritty, I love it! I crossgraded to Guitar Rig 2, and as deep and full-featured as it is, I still like Amplitube better. So far at least...

Here's Freeamp 2 among a few others.

The mic'ed cab with open or closed back is cool. Moving the little mic is nice too!
