...and there was me thinking he was a *BudgeriBloke! Apart from the missing beak.

* Unfortunately, since most of the world calls Budgerigars Parakeets, this only works for Brits or people who understand how English english works...

If Reaper 6 includes remote control / automation options for home laundry and culinary production devices I'll seriously consider a divorce from the missus.

Based on strong user demand, I heard Version 6 will add "mandatory USB hardware dongle" support

Default Damn you, Studio One!

Studio One is killing it right now.
I just tried v4.5 and it runs a lot smoother than previously.
I mean they are really trying to be that one-stop shop.

But damn, man. I'm so used to how Reaper works.
Some of the things that DAW is doing Reaper can do soooo much better.

- Chord Track
- Arranger Track
- Scratch Pad (mirrored project with ReaStreamed tracks?)
- Console/Mixer Inserts (could be another fx chain above the sends)

I've been begging for these things for a while.
Man, oh man... I really hope to see some of this in Reaper 6.

Mixer channel zoom. Waveform masking/auto envelopes. ReaMID, a plugin with a GUI that runs on your phone or tablet. MIDIPaint, even.

Uh... are you looking at a different mixer than me? We've always had inserts there.

... of course that pro version will be a lot more expensive than the standard version.

In fact they already do have a pro (-fessional) version for a higher price, dedicated to those making a decent ampount of money using Reaper. It just lacks that fancy name.

Default just cubase or S1 chord track....

I only accept the S1 as a Daw that is perfectly complete and efficient

Default Feature Hopes

I know that this has been said time and time again, but Protools style grouping and playlists would be that final nail in the coffin.

I have used Reaper exclusively since about 2008, but every 3 or 4 months I work in a studio that has Protools and every time I realize how much I want playlists and grouping improvements.

Just finished a drum track yesterday that would have been way easier with playlists.

Despite all that, Reaper still rules.

I really like Reaper’s default interface, not sure why others don’t. Sleek colors and lightweight, not tacky. Pro Tools looks way more dated and ugly to me.

What is it about the number "6" that is so special that it captures so much
energy?

Same. I've always preferred the default over any other theme.

For me studio one is way too busy in the gui department, there is stuff on every bit of the screen and it's visually tiring for me.

I would still appreciate a time ruler on the base of the "Render Window".
I think this would be useful.

Totally agree - although I could live without playlists, but track grouping in Reaper (automation, editing) is decades behind ProTools.
Damn it! < the slowest and most cumbersome editing and automation workflow I have ever encountered.

I need a fast efficient workflow. Reaper is amazing in almost every respect, but a REAL time waster when mixing complex sessions.

Just upgraded ProTools last week after thinking I would never need it again.
(only updated because it's grouping features means a 3 second automation, processing & edit task on many tracks in ProTools, is a 5 minute job in Reaper.)
Multiply that on a big mix session, and over a few weeks it could end up taking me an extra day.

Ever wondered why none of the big mixers use Reaper?

I'll be very surprised if V6 will have proper track grouping.

Maybe you should use a Control Surface Interface device and join the "CSI" thread in the "Control Surface" subforum to allow to (and help improving) a hardware supported optimized kind of workflow.

+1 for playlists and better track grouping (especially useful for multimic drums recordings)

Well - a good midi control over the automatic coffee maker could well be integrated into the studio landscape.

I like this one!! 😎
