Default John Lennon's amp?

Anyone knows what amp was used by the guitarist (maybe Lennon him self) on Lennon's album after he left the Beatles? I'm not finding any info. It has thin crunchy sound, I like it a lot. I suspect the guitar is Les Paul but the amp I have no idea.

googling...

https://equipboard.com/pros/john-len...ers#amplifiers
Fender and Vox amps, which matches your sound description.

a myriad of guitars.

I'm not sure if it's one of the bigger amps. Sound like a small crappy amp with a lot of bite, that what I'm after

There's not just a single album after he left The Beatles.

Check this movie ... i watched it, but wasn't really paying attention to gear. George Harrison was playing guitar on several tracks as well. "Imagine" is Lennon's 2nd solo album.

Are you talking about 'Plastic Ono Band', the album Lennon made with Ringo and Klaus Voorman at E.M.I. Studios (later known as Abbey Road)?

If so, it is possible that some of The Beatles' equipment was still there (in the big cubpoard into which they all squeezed to record 'Yer Blues' for The White Album, and in which their equipment was usually kept), because they had only broken up about 6 months before Lennon released 'Plastic Ono Band', and George was also making 'All Things Must Pass' at E.M.I. while George was making 'Plastic Ono Band'.

During their last couple of years, The Beatles were using Fender amps - and Lennon was using his Epiphone Casino a lot.

For example, see the Casino plus Fender amp set up on the 'Rooftop Concert' sequence in the 'Let It Be' film, in the opening and subsequent moments of 'Don't Let Me Down'
here

There were a lot of Vox, and then Fender amps being sent to The Beatles in the last few years of their time as a band, so I do not know which model John would have used for 'Plastic Ono Band', but I would bet he is using his Casino into a Fender amp (he did not really use any other electric guitar in that last year or so, although he did play George's SG a little for The White Album, and he did use a lap steel for the solo on George's 'For You Blue' on 'Let It Be').

It seems a lot of others agree with me

Take a look at these pedals which seek to reproduce The Fabs' distortion tones of the late 60s

Slightly OT unless there's a clue somewhere in the studio footage but I guess you all may have seen this?

Somehow very uplifting in these dim days...

But a very nice Off Topic.

Thanks.

I watched it several times when it came out the other day, and then sent it to everyone I know (well, almost everyone).

It made me smile - I am not sure if those guitars in PJ's editing suite are real though - they look like mock ups to me (the Rickies look particularly third-party or Chinese made or something; not very accurate).

Yes I wondered too. But still a heck of an elaborate "mood board" if that was their purpose?

love Lennon for just sitting on the floor, beating on an acoustic guitar and belting out the revolution. Imagine on the guitar is very easy, should be a good beginner piano piece. always loved Lennon's guitar work for his groove and focus, he was a very linear based writer, IMO. McCartney was the vertical.

the movie 'Yesterday', I thought would tick me off, loved it. it's not what it seems to be about.
