script: Insert regions for all selected items?

Say you have 50 items that don't overlap in time, and you want to create one region for each of them.

Currently, I select the item, then "Time selection: Set time selection to items" (shortcut: I), then "Markers: Insert region from time selection" (Shift R). That's three clicks each item and a fair bit of scrolling around.

Anyone know of a script that can speed this up, something like "Insert regions for each/all selected items"

Or any tips on how to build such a custom action from existing ones?
