Default How to share preferences settings but not paths and plugins?

Hi you all wise folks! I switch between 3 or 4 computers thru the week, and keeping them in sync is pretty tough, because some are Win10 and some are OSX. Also, VST folders are not called the same.

Is there a way to identify where paths and plugins settings are when exporting preferences? Are they in the "Configuration" box, because if they are I'm screwed, am I not?

You can't. Paths are included in the config. You can share everything else but the config, but this leaves out your prefs. That's why I made this FR: https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=107817

It's not too time consuming to replace the paths afterward; there are only about 5 locations that need it. Ideally if you are using two configs you want to keep in sync you could use the same exact file structures for Reaper and audio files on the the drives and Reaper will never know the difference.

Bummer, I'll have to buy me a Moleskine just to keep all those in sync. Thanks, fox!

Aaah 2012, that was a nice year (the world didn't end after all). For what is worth, I'm signing that now.

the first question is what exactly do you want to keep in sync between all the various reaper installs?

regardless, part of the answer is gonna be to do portable installs on all the computers, including Mac... you can google for how to do that on Mac or watch Kenny's videos about it.

When you have portables, it will be easier to keep all the reapers pretty much the same
