Default MIDI Editor question

Is it possible to get the MIDI editor's timeline to display proper musical beat divisions instead of:

1_____ 1.1.480 _____ 1.2 _____ 1.2.480 ____ 1.3 ____ 1.3.480 ____ 1.4 ____ etc..

This '.480' stuff is a frickin' pain.

I'm sure it wasn't like that before.

That is showing the number of ticks, which IS useful if you are programming in MIDI stuff as well & want a way to line up "correctly"

MIDI editor menu: Options: "Time format for ruler yaddayadda". Set it to "Measures.Beats.100ths" to get a more math friendly (albeit rounded) display.

Thanks for the reply gofer.

But only two options..? "Measures, Beats, 100ths" and "Measures, Beats, Ticks".

While I can appreciate the need for both options, I think it would be useful to have a third... "Measures, Beats" No 100ths or Ticks.

Is there any other way to turn off the 100ths & Ticks?

I was thinking the same thing. When I have musical position and time displayed simultaneously in the ruler it just looks confusing and messy.

I thought maybe a big character for measure and a small one for beat (and nothing else!) with a dash instead of a dot would differentiate it in a more obvious way?

4.3 isn't obvious that it's half way through the measure because it looks like a regular decimal division, which would mean about 1/3 through... And if you zoom in a bit more, then it switches back to actual decimal divisions where .5 now signifies halfway through the beat, so you have .3 signifying halfway through a measure and .5 halfway through a beat. Makes little sense to me...

Ideally, time and musical position should have separate lanes in the ruler as well...

Maybe something like 5-4.5? with the numbers getting smaller to emphasize the bigger divisions. Nitpicks, but more logical IMO...

I'd actually use another display: "Measures only", as I don't need
any more numerical details, just a reference where measures are.

Yup... That's even better - just "Measures".
