Default Help with rendering, please.

Hi all, and Seasons Greetings!

I'm rendering tracks that will eventually go onto CD, so I'm rendering .WAV files as follows:

The only problem is, the resulting files sound dull and lifeless compared to playback of the original songs through REAPER. All the top end 'sparkle' has gone.

I'm assuming I have to render to 44,100HZ/16bit, if the files are gonna be able to play on a regular CD player, so I can't up the HZ or bit depth.

I guess I must be making some dumb noob mistake here, but I cant figure out what it is.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers

Oh, hang on a minute, if I import the .WAV file back into REAPER and play it, it sounds fine.

Maybe playing back through Media Player is the problem.

Sorry 'bout this - in a bit of a rush here - got to get it finished for tomorrow y'see.

I've been working on this all day and my brain hurts!

Hey dungbeetle,

Glad you solved your problem, out of interest, what sample rate/bit depth are you using for recording?

I ask because I always set Resample mode to Best, but I guess but I guess if you're recording at 16 bit 44.1 KHz it wouldn't make any difference?

PS Happy Xmas to you, at least it is here.

Hi Nicholas

Merry Xmas to you too!

Wasn't holding out much hope for a response on Christmas Eve to be honest, but REAPER-ites are a different breed, eh?

Thanks for your reply.

I tend to record at 44,100HZ/24bit, and it seems to sound good enough for what I need.

A bit shattered atm 'cos I have to have this done for the kids for Christmas Day (...woah, that's today already! ). It's a CD of them playing the tunes they've been learning during the year. It's also the first time I've actually rendered using REAPER (always used Tracktion before).

Talk about leaving it a bit late!

Anyhoo, thanks again for the reply, and have yourself a Merry Chrimble.

Cheers
/d
