Default Guitar Rig crashes Reaper...?

Got a small (ok..big?) problem where everytime I try to use Guitar Rig 1 or 2 in Reaper, the program crashes..intermittently. GR used to work great!! I had no issues initially, though when it started it would crash when I tried to record...then it started crashing for no apparent reason that I could discern. Now with more recent updates (currently v0.984) I can't even open GR (add to an FX slot) without Reaper dying and the process taking about 10 minutes to finally die and let go of my M-Audio Delta ASIO drivers. I have 2 Windows installs that I use on a regular basis and it seems to behave the same on both.

Is there anyone that can confirm this for me? And if so, is this something that is potentially on a list of things to look into?

Also, I am new to the forum here..so HI! Love the program so far! Bang-up job guys!

THANKS!

hope your problem gets sorted.

is there anything in specific you are doing that is causing this? or is it just failing to load? Does it fail to load in otherhosts?

Nope...no problem in other hosts. The only thing I can think of is maybe how Reaper handles the ASIO driver for my sound device. I DO seem to have similar issues with FL crashing from time to time, but that is only if I really push it hard...does the same thing...dies, then the process takes forever to let loose of the ASIO driver and go away.

Maybe I could try a fresh install of Reaper as I have just been upgrading over teh old ones as they come out. I'll give that a shot as soon as I can.

Thanks J! Heh...yeah...I recognize you from Looptalk and KVR.

Its a Babyawarez Panzees product. You could ask the creator, babya himself. However, he's a very very VERY patient man, so it might take some time before he answers your question.

I thought Guitar Rig was from Native Instruments?

http://www.native-instruments.com

Who's this babya guy? Is he related to Jergens or is he one of the same? For some reason, I seem to be out of the know lately, for not knowing these developers in the cheapware circles.

Where can I read some background information? Everyone seems to say I should be thanking these developers, but no one ever seems to give me a link of how I'm suppose to even know about what they have done or where to locate their products. They just scream at me to do some research.

Well, you know. On the most part I try to be helpful, but you can ask Pipeline.....I can be an asshole with the rest of them when I feel the need.

I'm glad you find it humorous, because in all honesty, behind it all I'm laughing my ass off while I'm ripping off their heads and pissing down their throats. It's all good entertainment.

I'll have to definately check out EnergyXT. I've been looking for a good midi sequencer that can be a rewire slave for awhile. Hopefully, it fits that bill. Right now, I have to assume it's the greatest thing since sliced bread....afterall Jorgen is a VST "hero". Right now I have this mental image of Superman with a big "VST" logo on his chest, instead of the "S".

I'd have thought that we're all nutcases of sorts to be here this much!

(By which definition I'm the biggest nutcase I guess....).

And now, back to Guitar Rig?

'fraid there's no ReWire in energyXT,
Jorgen may implement (with eXt as a ReWire host) later on. but it's not top priority.
He was talking of a "rewire VST" idea (presumably enalbing access to a Rewire client), but I cannot find any details.

Meanwhile, just insert the energyXT VSTi into Reaper.
