I have tried Windows 7 32bit dual XP boot. I am getting constant stuttering when clicking on some buttons, when going into menus, when browsing my disks. I am running 512samples latency. Tried with my ASIO driver and with ASIO4ALL.

Somewhere I read this has something to do with Aero feature. Any words about it?

The system seems rock solid and blazing fast, I need to make up for the audio issue, and maybe will go to 7 soon. However, the plugin charge reaper can take is the same in W7 as in XP. 600 Reacomps aprox, 50 per channel, 90-95% load. However I am getting less memory usage in XP. 83 in XP to 133 in W7.

Q6600, 4gm ram. GF7600GS, TC Electronic Konnekt Live.

Do you have installed the graphic card lastest drivers? I had some problems until I downloaded the drivers from nvidia.

By the way, I recommend you to try W7 x64. W7 uses a lot of RAM so x64 is a good improvement (it has no RAM limit usage).

Thanks pal, the graphics update from nVidia pushed the envelope even harder, now I lowered my CPU use down to 85% with the same testing procedure, and the constant crackles in audio are gone...

However, it still seems to be some issue with screen scolling and Aero.
When I scroll tracks up & down, each times the screen updates, there is a little crack in audio stream. I wonder if its a reaper fault...

A little tip for those who are having the same issue: Right click on the reaper icon, go to properities and check the desktop composition for reaper.
That way, when reaper is running, you wont have Aero, but there are no crackles here.

However, I feel it still does need to be fixed, though.

I don't use Aero at all. I find it pretty useless.

I'll be going to Win 7 x64 tonight on my studio rig (release version) hoping to have it done in enough time to throw down some basic drum tracs and see what I get...will post more once I get things rolling....

I have to say, I effing love Win 7. Significant differences in resource usage (to the positive), and if that wasn't enough - which it should be - it really flies. I feel about 800% more productive already over Vista.

One thing worth saying for anyone considering an upgrade - I would NOT recommend the download from the MS Store. It's great that they're trying online distribution and all, but they MEGAFAILED at it. I downloaded the 2.3 gig install package 12 TIMES and was never once able to successfully unpack the damn thing.

This went really smooth. So far I'm extremely happy with the perormance - waiting for my new kick mic to come in before doing any tracking. Hopefully have more feedback in a couple day....

Playing around today I had a couple minor issues but nothing too terrible. I had installed the latest ASIO4ALL drivers - and using those was only able to see 8 of the 16 channels off my Alesis...dropped back to the Alesis ASIO drivers and of course got my channels back but had no audio into reaper tho I could hear the signal coming thru my headphones out of the mixer...had to uninstall the ASIO4ALL drivers and everything was happy again - they improved my latency by about 4ms but I track 9-12 channels off my kit at any given time...

Running 7 on my POS HP laptop. Funny thing is it is only 4 months old. It was horrible inder vista but under win 7 it runs sooo much smooother! I will probably install on my DAW machine after the new years to see if anything new pops up in it but otherwise I am loving it and feel confident it will rock for Reaper. So once again I saw the pictures but just to clarify. If I install the 64 bit on my DAW pc and most of my plugs are 32 bit they still will work right?
