Default Version Upgrade missing some things..

So I always use portable installs..

But everytime I upgrade to a new version, I have to manually add the SWS dll to the new install folder..

Not to mention, I usually have PDFs in the Docs folder that I'd like to include in my Export Configuration but it's not an option..

Am I missing something here?

It sounds like you are installing each new pre version into a new folder? If so, no need to do this - just install the new version as a portable install over the top of the previous one (unless you do want to keep previous version installed, but I can't see much point in doing that) ....

If I wanted to install over a previous version, wouldn't I just choose a normal install?

I think a Configuration Export should have the option to migrate more folders such as Plugins (sws), UserPlugins (reaPack), and Docs (all my PDFs that arent version specific.

The update process is the same on both (normal and portable install). The difference is basically that the portable version has all application & resource files in a single (portable) folder.

If you want to keep your previous portable install, I'd suggest to do the following:
  1. Make a copy of your current portable Reaper install folder and give the folder a different name *
  2. Install a newer version directly over one of these two Reaper install folders (the important part here is that this is done again as portable install)
  3. Now you have two portable installs (the old and newer version) with the same config and files

* As example: I usually add something like -old ('Reaper-old') or the version number ('Reaper-579') to the name of older portable install folders. Depends mainly on how many portable install folders I have side-by-side.
