Default First time MacBook Air user help

Hey everyone,

just got an M1 MacBook Air. First thing I'm trying to do is install reaper. Been working on this for a few hours (!!!). The download is a disk image (??? what's that?) When I double click on it this small window pops up (hard to describe) and then nothing happens. But if I wait a minute then another window pops up asking me if I want to use Reaper or something like that. I finally get it working and input my license, but it is not in my finder folder... I have to re-install the program every time I turn my MacBook on???

When you open a disk image, a new disk is mounted with some stuff in it, in this case the Reaper app. You need to drag that .app file to your Applications folder to install software.

If you click directly on that .app file you're running the program from the mounted installation drive, not your hard drive, so any configuration or other changes you make won't get saved.

Some plug-ins have installers, so just run the installers. Some plug-ins have to be installed manually:
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
