Default You guys will laugh but I keep coming back....

Hey fellas. Synth 1 is the first synth I downloaded and used. It is fairly basic and intuitive to learn synthesis fundamentals on. I have since purchased u-he Diva and OP-X PRO II .

I am amazed at the capabilities of this old free gem. Out of the box it's mediocre with factory bank but if a guy is willing to roll up ones sleeves and dig in its a very capable and rewarding synth. I was messing around with it for a few hours and came up with some amazing sounding arps and a carbon copy of the main bass in the Assault on Precinct 13 movie. I mean this bass patch shakes my walls. Lol . Lots of fun.

Anyway, the point of this post is that some really good music and sounds can be coaxed out of freebies if one is a little patient.

Cheers fellas.

There's nothing to laugh about. It's a great synth, and there's about 10000 patches available for it online.

Here is a link to Synth1 1.112 + 9000 presets, including the elusive Mr. Wobble set. To use it just do the following..

1. Displace it in your VSTi folder & double-click.

2. Double click "initsettings" and select "Yes", then "OK"

This is one of the few synth's, free or otherwise, that has stayed on my systems. It blends great with SSO to fatten up stuff.

Enjoy!

This is great! Thank you so much for posting thing. Since leaving Propellerhead Reason I have been missing their Subtractor synth. I would venture a guess that this thing is darn near identical.

Now if I could just figure out how to load the 9000 patches. I've spent all this time just manipulating the init sound. Glad to see I still know what all those knobs are for.

Once you "initsettings" to make Synth1 able to locate the files (they do NOT need to be unzipped) you just click in the Window beside the red "write" button on the bottom, and then start exploring!

Thanks, I figured it out by going back and reading what was written above. Funny how well things work when you follow instructions.

Hey Richie

Ichiro was ahead of his time. This synth is still relevant. I don't have plans to ever wipe this from my drive.

I wonder how hard it would be to modify the code and bring it into the 64 bit world with a skin swapping feature? Now that would be cool.

Pipe dream I suppose.

This little synth has grown on me the more I use it.

Someone need to hack the code and make a full modular 4 layers version of this thing some day.
