Default Theme development/tweaker > Fader background when automation...

Hello,

Is there a way to set the colors selected via the Theme development/tweaker > Fader background when automation... choices so that they are more saturated or intense in the GUI?

The tint level makes the result look pale regardless of what sort of background I place underneath it, and I am hoping I have missed some setting.

I would like to match the color of my automation mode buttons with the fader tint, and I would like both to appear bright and vibrant, rather than a shaded tint.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

That may be unpractical because of how the fader backgrounds(and that of parameter fx knobs and send levels in the MCP/TCP) actually works.

In READ mode, everything is green. Easy one really.

In Latch/Touch/Latch Preview the armed controls are yellow. There's no way around that. Latch is usually a darker purple for me, Touch a bright yellow and Latch Preview a strong blue, but there's no way for the tinted controls to match that in WALTER as far as I can see.

When stuff is latched, in the case of TOUCH mode for as long as you touch stuff, it turns red.

In other words you cannot infer which automation mode you're in by looking at the tinted controls, unless you're in READ(all green that's activated), Read/Trim(nothing is tinted) or WRITE (all armed is red) mode.

Maybe someone can weigh in whether stronger colouring can be done in WALTER.

Maybe that's a good feature request for Reaper 6. If so, you may want to stick around for the Reaper 6 alphas when they start popping up in the pre-release forum. That's usually when the user interface design is discussed quite heavily as well.

I took a round about approach to setting up my color cues.

I desaturated my volume and pan background .pngs so that the colors chosen with the "Theme development/tweaker > Fader background when automation settings" would not shift in hue.

Then I experimented with the settings until I had three distinct colors to use.

After that I worked on the *_env_* and *global_* .pngs to match the coloring to that which resulted from the "Fader background when automation" color settings.

It would be nice to have control over the overlay mode and alpha so that any color could be used effectively. The pastel colors that result from the default overlay characteristics may not be ideal for all theme designs.

Hi,
Thanks. It is a work in progress that still needs a lot of work.

I have not begun any work on the mcp yet, and since I am so new to REAPER I am still learning the repercussions of some of the layout choices I have made with the tcp and have to stop and make fixes.

When I get it finished I would like to share it.
