Default Quick Answer; Is V4 ready for use?

Should I jump in? Is this version ready for audio production? It sounds like many are using it but are you making music or debugging?

Also, I understand it can be installed concurrently with 3.75, correct?

Thanks much,

Warren

The windows that pop-up when you launch V4 states clearly that is not ready for production. Use it at your own risk.

To try it concurrently with 3.75 tick the "portable install" options in the installer.

It works ok, but odd behavior still pops up from time to time.

Unless there is a reason you need the features in V4, may be best to stick with V3 until a stable release comes out. :)

Keep in mind screensets, a new feature, were already done over to the point where old V4 Alpha screensets no longer work in the newer alphas. In short: if you're upgrading to take advantage of new features, there's a chance those features may not maintain compatibility between now and release time. If that could be an issue, wait.

Ready. I couldn't imagine having to go back to 3.x...

If you're making your own music, I'd save dive right in, but obviously if you're running a professional studio with paying clients, you'll want to wait for the official release.

I'm doing my own production and let me tell you, I can't go back to 3.x! Too many goodies and workflow enhancements to go back. Fortunately, V4 is running quite stable here so far and opened all my old 3.x projects without problems. Hope it doesn't change its structure too much so I can't open my projects later.
