* Request
This would be the addition of a post-master fader insert chain for including VSTs after master volume changes.
* Benefit
Specifically, this would be especially useful for post-master fader volume monitoring VSTs (such as Youlean LUFS meter) which presently only read the volume pre-fader. Additionally, some might choose to put a brickwall limiter or other effect after the fader to ensure that any manual boosts do not exceed desired output levels.
* Reason
Currently, inserted meters such as the Reaper native VU plugin, or third-party plugins such as the aforementioned Youlean LUFS meter, react only to audio levels before the master fader. When adjustments to the master fader are made, they are not reflected in the metering output. This is problematic if one is trying to raise/lower the master fader to compensate for the entire mix output and the meters are not accurately reflecting changes.
* Implementation Suggestion
Add a post-master fader insert chain option to the master channel window. This is best seen for example in Presonus' Studio One; which currently implements this behavior. This article, https://pcaudiolabs.com/pre-and-post...-studio-one-4/ provides an excellent description of the feature as well as supporting screen shots.

Reason: clarification: "third" to "third-party"
This didn't get the response I was hoping for, tbh. Am I and one other person the only ones who think this would be beneficial? This has huge benefits, especially for finalizing/mastering.

You cannot render the monitoring FX, I think? But adding an option to render the monitoring FX chain could possibly be easier for the devs to implement, compared to what TheMixNation suggested.

No, you would want a master group before the master fader for that. For all metering it is perfect though.
There is a mix bus script in ReaPack that creates a master track. I've go it in my tool bar, so it's just a mouse click. This is also more CPU efficient than putting plugins on the master track.
Some plugins like Soundradix requires the fader to be post-fader to work correctly.
"
To get the most effective results you ideally want to feed Soundradix Pi the correctly balanced volumes for each channel in the mix, which is why Sound Radix recommends placing the plug-in post-fader
"
@devs, please please give us per fader the option to set it to post-fader.

++ I'am a Pi user as well!! So tedious to use it without Post Fader Inserts in all channels.!!
Yes please. Many reasons it would come handy. For one, it would be a breeze to implement workflows like the Airwindows Console. Or any other fader-relative saturation found in analog mixers.
I hadn't seen this post in a while and when I had gotten the initial response that I was full of poo, I thought it had been quashed.
People who ask "why would you do that" really ought ask themselves..."why would't I do that?" or "how could I use that?". If you don't mix that way, cool. But, if you think we are alone, ask why other DAWs already implement this very essential function. Ask yourself how an analog mixer works and why in the world they put a master fader on it in the first place.
I say things with a jovial spirit and as a conversation piece. If you take offense to any of it, check your own attitudes before reading and then re-read.
Thanks!!! :-)
Quick Edit:
Side note... After the hundreds I've spent on other DAWS, Reaper is the ONLY one that is as close to perfect as one can get. It is the one I use despite having paid much more for the other guys' licenses and upgrades. This one feature, to me, is the only thing that is lacking to make it truly functional.

+1 also for Master Post Fader Insert FX Option ! This is so useful for all the reasons people here mentioned. Otherwise, we must keep our Master fader at 0 dB... For Loudness measurements it is so dangerous.
Please developers, consider seriously this feature request !

This is a highly necessary feature for plugins that interact with each other and/or use reactive analysis of the output of a channel, so please consider adding it! +++
Edit: Of course i also meant this for every channel, is there another request for this already?
