Default What type of interface would you now recommend?

Hi! Now that I have a windows 10 laptop I'm having trouble with my old Tascam US 200 that I used on my old Windows 7. A Google search revealed problems with this interface and Windows 10 but I found no recommendations for a better audio interface. Can you help me? Thank you for your time!

For long-time driver support and compatibility RME is recommended frequently.
There may be other brands with good support...

Hi bree. Here's a round up of some current models - of course these this doesn't take into account issues of support of even durability but may be of some interest.

What do you foresee for # of inputs and outputs, mic pres, expansion of inputs via ADAT/Lightpipe? The recommended RMEs are rock solid but if your needs are modest and budget is less there are other good options.

Will help a lot if you mention what your budget is, plus the other items mentioned in the post above.

Fepends on your focus. Mastering calls for a different class of interface (2 channels of highest quality) than tracking (many channels).
For tracking, RME with an ADAT input is a great choice.
For mastering, the sky's the limit, but Lynx and Apogee are a couple very good ones.

Default Thank You Everyone!

I appreciate the help from each and everyone of you! It looks like RME is the way to go. When I bought the Tascam US 200 10 years ago it was around $200, it looks like I'll have to spend a bit more these days for an RME but I'll sure do it!

I use two different interfaces for very different tasks due to their appropriate specifications:

For Live use, a Native Instruments Audio 6 for being specified as low latency.

For Multi Track recording a Behringer XR18, that provides many Mic inputs, six outputs, and features a sophisticated remote controlled built-in mixer for a very good price.

If you do your shopping carefully, there are plenty of used RME bargains out there. I bought BOTH my HDSP 9652 pci interface & my Laptop`s RME BabyFace used in both cases some time ago. NO issues at all with either one & the software & firmware is still being updated regularly.

At a glance, the thought of replacing a working piece of hardware due to a software incompatibility is kind of outrageous. Especially if it's a sideways move with no feature upgrade in the deal.

Obviously the new computer is an upgrade and that's part of the system...

Is it a hard fact that your new machine will not let you run or install the old revision of your OS? That's what I would be looking to do. Or at least address it this way: Is there a feature in the new OS that makes it worth it to have to upgrade fully functional hardware?

Another perspective in case you hadn't considered it.

one other thing to look at:
Most recent version of the driver, which is apparently Win10 compatible.

https://tascam.com/us/product/us-200/download

and...

https://www.tascam.eu/en/downloads/archive/US-200

which explains how to make sure the driver works under Win10.
