Default Initializing...

So this is new to me. I can open a project, but if one project is already open and I try to open another, Reaper hangs on the splash screen with the word "Initializing..." Task Manager shows some activity from Reaper, so it's responding on some level, but the second project never opens.

Any ideas?

- samplerate mismatch (device setting versus project 1, project 2..)??

- audiofiles not found and the warning dialog is behind the main reaper window?

- some plugins may give warnings about licensing or whatever, again maybe hidden behing main window?

Doesn't seem to be any of those things, but they're not things I would have thought of checking myself, so thanks!

Also, I'm seeing now that it doesn't always happen with the second project I try to open. Sometimes it's the third or fourth, so maybe the issue crops up after Reaper has been running for a while.

For what it's worth, here's what Even Viewer has to say about the hangs:

The program reaper.exe version 6.0.7.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Default Nuke and Pave

Well, I think I've solved it by resetting my config file. The nuclear option. I suppose I'll never know which specific parameter it was that was causing Reaper to hang. Maybe the config file was just corrupted.

Maybe it really had something to do with another dialog window being hidden under main window and waiting for user's interaction?

Yeah, maybe. I looked for one, but I couldn't find any, and I couldn't do anything with the Reaper window such as move it or hide it. The only way out was to kill the Reaper process. So I don't know. It's a mystery!

When I open another project, Reaper never says "Initializing". Are you trying to open another instance of Reaper.exe?

If so, I guess that wont work, since there would be a clash with ownership of the audio device.

There's work being done on this issue in the prerelease forum. Please try out the latest pre-release and see if it makes a difference. If not - report there, not here.

thanks for your reply. It also happens with the latest rc. I can't see any features regarding that problem in the release notes?
