Default Is ReaPitch an alternative to Auto Tune ?

I wonder if the ReaPitch plugin is meant as an alternative to the Auto Tune plugin (automatically correcting the pitch of solo instruments etc.) or not. I tried and I am not sure. I see some permanent pitch changes adjustable there (that I am not interested) but does it work in a simple automatic mode ? I don't see much possible adjustments there. Or ReaTune ? What is the difference ?

ReaTune would be the AutoTune alternative. ReaPitch is for "creative" repitching of audio where you need to determine the pitch shifting amounts yourself.

I tried ReaTune automatic mode but it makes so many sound drops and distortion artifacts that it is close to unusable? Cpu use 1-2%

I've only used it in manual mode, and sparingly at that, but in that mode it seems to work well.

Auto tune doesnt work in auto mode for pitch correction either IMO. Manual mode is the preferred mode for any serious pitch correction work regardless of which plugin you use. Auto is only useful for the T-pain effect.

Reatune works reasonably well in manual mode for minor pitch corrections. Just draw a line on the pitch you want the note to hit. Its the best free pitch correction plugin I'm aware of but it pales in comparison to something like melodyne.

Auto tune works for auto corrections quite well .. Now - what is the difference between using the direct easy pitch envelope (and drawing what is needed) and ReaTune in manual mode (that seems to be much more complicated) - while the algorithm (elastic audio) is the same ?
