Default Default 6 Theme Stretchy Track Label

I'd like to get the default 6 theme to have stretchy Track Labels like this.

I remember it being done with a percentage represented as a digit - 1.1 = 110% (at least I think.

The main thing is that I don't know what issues I'm likely to have with the default 6 theme adjuster script.

Some track names I receive when importing stems can be ridiculously long, so I have to be able to see them really.

Hi, have you tried setting Name Size = AUTO from the Default 6 Theme Adjuster?
This will adjust the width of all track title fields, based on the longest name.

– only asking since you didn't mention this option.

That only works so far...

If it works this far, I'm not sure why it can't keep on extending

There's no limit to how long a name it will measure (as far as I know), the problem is it measures the length of the text in the font that the theme adjuster script believes is the track name font. Since you've changed the theme to a bigger font, the script is under-measuring it.

There's various ways to fix this, but they're all a bit involved. Easiest would be to change the track label font back if you're not wedded to it being big.

I don't find it readable at the default size.

I'll use the track manager to view the track names and a name manipulator script to reduce.

It feels like the track label should at least shrink when the TCP width is being reduced by the user, rather than disappear entirely. Ideally, if space grows to the right of the route, trim buttons etc, the room should be used up by the track label.

I can't make it do that and also do the user controlled / automatic text field thing that was the new thing in v6. My suggestion is you get that working for you; it is exactly what you want.

Ah, shame it can't be done. It would be nice for REAPER to provide this functionality

Thanks for your suggestion. And your replies generally

Hi again,
Yes, White Tie have given us some useful hints how track name measurements can be changed for default 6 based themes.

If you’re interested to perform a very simple edit to the Adjuster script, I’ll be happy to give my suggestions what to change. Then you can experiment further, or revert the change if you regret.

In case the text field continues to be a truncated after editing the correct font (Calibri), you can perhaps share the misbehavior once again.

Since we’re dealing with font usage there are some unknown factors, it may not work exactly as expected on your system. Also, the default Adjuster script and any changes will be overwritten if updated with REAPER, meaning the edit needs to be done again.

– And, maybe there’s another and more future proof method that I’m not aware of

To be clear, Reaper absolutely does provide this functionality, I just didn't use it in the Default 6 theme, because the 'AUTO' scripted size does that job better. Just not for you because you've changed the font.
