Question about ReaPitch
I have pre-recorded music that I am singing to. Each instrument is routed to a BUSS call Instruments.
The website I get the music from only allows limited amount of shifing the key of the song up or down and I need the song to come down a bit more.
The original tracks are in the key of C. Using ReaPitch I was able to get it where I want it by bringing it down by -5 semitones.
So, 2 Questions:
1. If the original key is C, then by bringing it down 5 semitones, what is the new key? I'm asking because I have WAVES ReaTune plugin on my vocal track and I need to set it to the proper key.
2. Is there a better way to set this plugin and get the same result?
In other words, I know that there are 12 semitones in an octave, but, should I be making any other adjustments here?

1. Five semitones down is: G
2. No, your setting is correct. Of course, instead of going
down 5 semitones you could go up 7 semitones.

C
-1 = B
-2 = B flat (A#)
-3 = A
-4 = A flat (G#)
-5 = G
so the new key is G

Since you start in Midi, that is the best place to do it.

The files that I download are MP3 files (Unfortunately) they are not MIDI or WAV files.
But, for the purposes of this question, that does not make a difference, does it?

You should be able to shift it as far as you want. It may sound bad, but nothing stops you from doing so.
In Reapitch, it often helps to shift the Formant in an equal and opposite direction. If you shift pitch up 5, shift the formant down 5, for example.

Update:
I ended up bringing the song down -7 semitones. The original key is C.
In previous replies the answers only went down -5 semitones because at that time that is where I was at.
I am asking because I have a pitch correction plugin from WAVES and I need to know the key the song is in to make the vocal sound right!
