Add stretch marker at mouse location and then snap to closest grid line?

I'm trying to find an action or create my own that will add a stretch marker at the mouse location and then snap to closest grid line.

I've created this custom action but it only seems to perform the first step.

• Item: Add stretch marker at mouse position
• Script: X-Raym_Snap stretch marker under mouse to closest grid line.lua

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong or another way to accomplish this? It seems like such an obvious workflow that I'm surprised I can't find what I'm after.
