That was nice. Very moody. The piano was strongly dissonant, but very delicate and never forced itself into the forefront. Then the bassoon came in and tied things together nicely.
At first I thought the repetitive synth (or whatever the little 1/8th notes were made from) was going to take center stage, as they sounded a little less moody than the piano... but then that Bassoon came in and owned it. Very nice!
Just past half way the strings were a nice touch. Like warm butter on a piece of bread.
The bassoon seemed to get a little lost just before the end, at about 2:14.
I was listening with an ear to what sort of movie scene it would have fit. For some reason I kept arriving in Captain Kirk's quarters where he's drifting through empty space on a dark and deserted ship while just a little high on psychedelics and muttering to himself *"once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered weak and weary."
??? For some reason I associate bassoon with Star Trek.
*Technically Spock's line.
