I thank you for your answer. Narrower separator very nice. I think the standard narrow one is unnecessary now :-)

Echolot excited me. I would like to say a few ideas about the places I find beautiful and the places that could be better.

Very neat tcp, especially the fx slots on the right are very nice.
Mute, solo, record and other icons are very nice. If the icons are a little larger, but slightly larger, they may look more comfortable.
Volume, Pan, Width in TCP are also very nice, they will look more comfortable if they are a little bigger. But they still don't have to be big, of course.
Also, it would be great if TCP has dual pan option instead of Width. Obviously Width is getting useless.
MCP is also very nice, it would be great if there are two symmetrical same size knobs for dual pan.

In general, a slightly darker, lighter theme will make it easier to work.
Transport is perhaps the best I've seen so far.
Fx slots have a nice shape, but if the color is light gray instead of yellowish, dozens of FX will not tire the eyes.
Finally, if the length of the tracks in mcp can be a little longer and stable, it will look more professional. Easy to see meters, easy fader automation and short track length becomes useless when fx count increases.
I want a lot, I know, these are just ideas to make it better.

Don't forget, you can do this using the Color Theme tweak window.

The default REAPER color theme tweaker could definitely deserve some improvements, especially on Windows.

Taking advantage of the new ReaImGui extension for ReaScript, which allows to build complex GUI for reaper scripts efficiently, I tried to make a better color theme tweaker, to make theme customization easier.

Features

So here are the game changer features of this color theme tweaker comapred to the native version:

  • Real time color palette change preview
  • HEX color value input (single value, easier to copy paste!! The native Windows color input doesn't have that)
  • Copy color with simple click and drag on the palette
  • Restore color buttons (all and individual color)
  • key display (make manual editing of theme file easier)
  • Filter and key and translated strings (overpassing BUG: Theme tweaker filter doesn't work on Localized strings)
  • color palette filtering

Awesome, really cranking out the updates!
I have been a fan of your themes -- in particular I think you have some really good ideas about use of space.

The way that the TCP was laid out in your ProTools 12.5 mod for example I think was some of the best use of space in any theme. See how it's possible to fit x2 embedded TCP FX, and then ALL that information in such a small vertical space with this layout. Amazing!

I tried to recreate the layout in my own WALTER code but could not.

Hi alphoc, thanks for taking the time to give me feedback!
I will keep the narrow divider just in case, it has namly the same width as the narrow mcp layout and who knows, maybe someone needs that width.
What exactly do you mean by slightly larger icons? 2px, 5px etc. ? The look is very individual.
Dual Pan I don't use and never missed that feature, it's not really necessary if you have Pan and Width. If I find some time for it, I will add this function.
The theme is based on the Sonar theme. What do you mean by something darker/brighter theme would make it easier?
If I make the orange FX slots gray, then they look like they are bypassed. That would not give a good distinction.
What do you mean by the longer and more stable tracks in mcp?
As I said, thanks for your feddback!

Hello permeke, install the new 1.6 update. There you have the possibility with layouts to tint the background panel.
You can change the color of the arrangement window in the theme development/tweaker window.

When I enlarge the track no font from Walter 13, the track no does not fit in the colored area in the picture. Could this colored region be a little wider?
And of course, I think the send slots in mcp are a bit rough compared to the general condition of the theme. It would be great if it could be more elegant and lighter. Echolot is now my new favorite theme.

Hi permeke, if you absolutely want to have access to the grayed out options, which I don't recommend, then you need to edit the rtconfig file in the theme file. Unzip the ReaperThemeZip file with a zip program and open the rtconfig file inside the unpacked folder with a text program, such as Editor, Notepad++, etc.
Put a semicolon in front of the "tinttcp 1538" entry, save the text file and reload the theme.
Code:
;tinttcp 1538
Now you have access to the colorization of the media item waveform and the media item background in the preferences again. As well as the colorization of the track label and the track panel background. Which I had predefined with the tinttcp command. However, some options will not work because the theme is not tuned for it. So best is to leave the editing of the rt-config-file and use the theme in its original source. Or you are ready to go into the depths of the theme on your own.

Hello alphoc, redesigning the track number is very difficult now. Maybe it's better to just upscale Reaper if you want to have bigger display in general. Go to preferences "General" -> "Advanced UI/system settings..." and set "Scale UI enlements..." to 1.3 or so.

I know that the display of send-slots is not optimal for reaper, but you have to be able to compromise. Maybe I'll have time to revise this sometime.

the option to have the width knob not visible and a simple "mono" pan knob instead would be cool too.

This is a beautiful theme. Was wondering how/if I can increase the font size of the markers in the MIDI editor piano roll. Cannot quite make out the text as is. The arrange view marker font size looks great.

See attached pic for example of problem.

Thanks,
Chris

I noticed that too, it seems to be a bug. You can change it if you search for "Timeline font" in the "Theme developer/tweaker" window and set the font to "Bold" there and save the edited theme. I was just wondering why your font looks different in general, your font doesn't look Arial and antialiased. How can that be? What operating system do you have and do you not have the Arial font installed?

Thank you - that fixed it (changing it back to bold). I was tinkering around with different sizes in the font dialog and was trying the "regular" setting to see what difference it would make on readability. I forgot to set it back to bold when done experimenting.

Would be handy to be able to use non-bold setting someday but not essential.

Thanks for looking into this.

BTW - to answer your question, I was using Arial Regular 9 and I am on Win 10.

I can only try : MCP2 and TCP2 , I would like to have the contrast bigger between selected and unselected panel color.
Or can this be done in the rtconfig.txt ?

Very good progess. I wonder if something better is possible instead of the overly narrowed image in the second picture below? First picture is OK but the second overly narrowed.
Finally, can "no width knob" be the Mixer layout default? That would be very useful indeed.

You can set your default layouts under "View > Screensets/layouts > Layouts" after all.

I have to be quite honest: The more I use this theme, the more I love it. Although it is a dark theme.

Two questions:

1) Is there any chance to get support for the Theme Adjuster? Maybe lucas_LCS (https://forum.cockos.com/member.php?u=104543) can give some tips and tricks?

2) I know, probably a lot of work... But is there any chance to get a "bright" version of that amazing theme? Simply (very simply!) spoken just switch the dark gray parts with the light gray parts and vice versa. Kind of "invert" it.
So e.g. the fonts in the MCP, line on the fader etc. turn dark and the TCP background etc. get the color of the fonts etc.

1) Unfortunately I'm not a programmer and the scripting language, which goes beyond WALTER, is too complicated for me. I also haven't seen any SDK or tutorial for it yet.

2) I have already thought about it. There are already so many good light themes. I wanted to finish this dark theme first. Maybe I will make a light version of it when I find time and leisure. This should not be so much work, because the basics are already defined and only some parameters have to be modified.

Layout is Ok, thanks for reminding. Can something be done for constricted TCPs? Tracks are overlapping, they look very stuck (attach file).

Neither am I.
What I did you only need know WALTER.
If you look at my themes that have the Theme Adjuster you should be able to figure it out.
Feel free to ask me questions if you don't understand what I did.

Yes, finish this one first.
It looked good from the start and you've made some nice improvements because you're focused on it.

Translating a dark theme to a light one for me was pretty like building a new theme with less coding.
Also, sometimes users that requests such things never get back to you about it, so only make one if you want to.

3 suggestions if you decide to make the change:

1: enlarge the panel enough to read the elements clearly
2: keep the panel the same size and use the size factor to make the track ID and track label smaller to fit the panel when only when it's at that size.

3: The buttons are kind of useless at that size, so have them disappear if they are not resizable.
At that small size it's likely no one is using the controls there anyway.

As seen in the pic, Track names do not appear when Tcp is so narrow, it is difficult to increase Tcp by clicking, even it does not work very well. The tracks are almost intertwined.
It would be better if the Tcp's in the folder looked like lines on the second click (not overlapping, of course). If this is difficult to do, it may be best to hide it.

What parameters would you like to set in the Theme Adjuster?

Personally I don't mind the cut-off panels in compacted folders. It gives me some idea of what's in those tracks, while still keeping them small enough to be out of the way.

I'm not sure you could make the contents of those tracks smaller while still keeping it legible, and the tracks shouldn't be any taller than what they are now, because the whole point of compacting a folder is to keep its contents out of the way. (In fact, they're already taller than they are in a lot of themes...) So I feel like the options are either to cut off the content, as it is currently, or remove the content altogether...

I've only been trying out Echolot for a couple days, though, so I don't have a lot of practical experience with it yet. So far I'm liking it a lot, though.
