Let's see how I do it. Do you have a suggestion on how big and how it should look? You can also hide the transport, then it won't take up so much space.

Maybe the silver colored buttons could stay as they are. And the rest of the controls could be spread along the sides (rate, bpm, etc.). The main controls would stay centered on the screen like they already are.

wavecrunch I emailed you a modified theme just now with my transport hack. Also included a TCP separator layout. On thing you may want to do is use the transport in a docker, that way you can put other docks with toolbars next to it on either side to save screen space on laptops.

I meant a separator in the mixer. A track layout that just shows a blank strip to separate instrument groups.

Hello Mawi, regarding thinner MCP layouts and strips, this is definitely necessary when projects are over 15 tracks (mine start at about 50) so more info is viewable on the screen at once. Some of us just cannot work with default sized MCP tracks, too much scrolling.

FX slots, sends, mute/solo, automation, metering, and faders (NOT knobs) are definitely must haves for these layouts....at least to me. Take a look at Default Commala 5 and any of the themes from Lucas_LCS for examples, they have very good thin/strip layouts. Also even the original CW thin layout was great at keeping all the necessary info with a much smaller layout.

Have not mingle with layouts (if any) but a InputFX button on the TCP would have been nice.

Thanks much, great Theme !

However, i am not able to colorize Items;
If i try to assign a custom choosen color to an Item, it just stays black.

I am on latest Reaper version, OSX Big Sur 11.5.2.

Hello! The theme is designed so that only the waveform display in the item is colored, the item itself remains black. Greetings

Very cool! There is not enough light shading of the entire track by color. And the ability to change the color of the backlight, not only orange, but also blue, for example, as in Sonar X3. Then you will get the best theme. Although she is still better than others!

I don't know exactly what you mean. Can you upload a picture, perhaps of Sonar X3, that shows exactly what you mean?

Great theme! Love it for podcast work.
Would have a suggestion and a wish.

First the suggestion:
I noticed that the buttons are cut off when track zooming in TCP. Something more elegant would be to hide them unless they are fully visible through.

Now for the wish:
I like the new MCP2 layout. The way you have arranged the buttons is visually very clear. Really good work! But one thing bothers me... the new layout of the MCP2 fx list. Would it be possible that you could design another MCP layout that brings back the fx list from MCP1 (default) so that the fx take the full space again and otherwise the track keeps the layout of MCP2?

I found the cut off buttons quite practical, because you can still guess at awkward TCP sizes what status some buttons have. But I also understand if you think it looks inelegant. Maybe it is better to hide them if the buttons are not fully visible. I will test it out and weigh it.

I will make a new MCP based on the MCP2 layout but with the normal behavior of the FX list from the default layout. That is not a problem at all.

Thanks for testing and your feedback.

E.g. upload here in a zip file and give me the link via pm.

I'm curious about it.

I sent the files....hopefully this works! In the zip folder you'll find the 2 pngs files for item backgrounds with the title bar. I also included a screen grab of the global settings you'll have to change to get them to display and also a screen shot of how it looks with my "modified" version of your theme. Let me know you got them! Love this theme and am glad to help you make it better.

design suggestion:
- use the same font used as the mute and solo.
- use a capital 'F' and small 'x'.
- Change it to an image, edit it to close the gap between the F & x to fit in the button better.
- if you have room for a small arrow point from the left to to F, that will also help define it as different from the main FX button.

location suggestion:
assuming the inFx is only needed in the recarm state, you can use the Phase button location.
use the Recarm state to make the Phase button visible when not armed and the inFx button visible when armed.

This will you allow you integrate the new button with minimal layout changes and you should be able to quickly add the new code.

The above may or may not work for you, but can still be a good starting point to help you experiment to find what you want.

The orange backlight is part of the theme. You have shown two different skins of Sonar. You can't combine the two, you would have to create an additional theme for the blue backlight, just like in Sonar. There is already a theme with blue backlighting, the Alternate theme. Otherwise, you can try changing the colors with the Theme Adjuster.

Very well done. I'm starting to integrate it to my daily sessions.
If I may suggest:
The "Mute-Solo-RecordArm" section might be more useful in the smallest zoom level rather than the "FX" section.

But your theme is very neat and looks great on my 13" M1 Macbook Pro! Thanks

Hi!

I don't usually post on any forums but I couldn't resist.

Thanks a lot for this theme. In my humble opinion is by far the most wonderful yet functional of them all.

With this new update I think it's almost perfect!

The only thing I'm not too fond of is the little lines underneath the FX on the mixer chain. Still, simply amazing.

Thanks again for your work.

Hi emwhy, thanks for your files! Your screenshot looks great. I wonder how you did the gradient in the toolbar background. Also the toolbar icons look good. Both together looks really great. Your audio items also look different than mine. I wonder if that is OS related or if I just have a different settings.
Anyway, I decided against using your item background images because they don't fit in the media item lanes of the MIDI editor. Unfortunately there are no separate item background images used for the media item lanes in the midi editor. Maybe this will be changed in the future.

Hey Mawi, no worries on the item pngs. I'm using Windows 10 FWIW with a 3rd party dark theme called Penumbra. As for the toolbar icons and gradient, I made new buttons for the icons that make it look like there's a toolbar behind them when it's all really just one large icon. They're basically just big icons made from your transport background png to scale to your transport layout. I also made blank icons and assign them to the sws dummy toggle action in place of a spacer to make it look like the icons are in their own modules across the top so to speak. I did this for the the two toolbars on either side of the transport in the screen grab I sent you. The other icons on Reaper's main toolbar are normal sized since that toolbar background image allows for a color gradient. I use a lot of hidden and contextual toolbars to keep the UI as uncluttered as possible. Some of this was lifted from Albert's Pro Tools X theme, the rest is yours.

I'm not a themer, but know just enough to be dangerous!

Very good theme. I think, if the separator narrow is a little narrower, or even half as much, it looks great.
