hey everybody. anyone out there is able to explain to me how to add a sub-menu in the top menu bar next to the help menu
usually there's the extension submenu, but after i install the Reamenu its lost.
i tried reaper_menu.ini but didnt locate where the information is stored
i found some code here: https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=20799 but no idea how to use it..

Hi,
the 'Extensions' menu is still there but ReaMenu renames it to 'Memory'.
You could rename it back to 'Extensions' via Options > Customize menus/toolbars... if you want (edit: In ReaMenu it's Options > Menus/Toolbars...).

Its the german translation, but it should be clear to understand

As said, ReaMenu just renamed Extensions to Memory (or Speicher in German) and customized it as can be seen here:
You could retitle it back to Extensions.
edit: Or if you don't want the ReaMenu customization at all for the Extensions menu you could reset it alltogether.
The fact that you see the (original) extensions menu appended at the end is because of the 'Include default menu as submenu' option in the Customize menus/toolbars dialog.

Allright, i just put the it on the top under "Speicher"
My wish was to create an additional Sub menu, only for Reapack. But thats satisfying for now. Thank you.

Ah, afaik that's not possible as extensions can only create the (same instance of the) Extensions menu which is then shared between all extensions (Reapack, SWS..).
Someone may correct me if I'm wrong.

Just for curiosity, why ReaMenus ReaperMenuSet size was 1.31 MB for version 5.31. and successive versions like 5.40 reduce to 202 KB ? some code improvement? Or some features were redesigned?
Also, what it is the last revision? I see around a 5.70, that is?
Thanks.

Sadly, a lot of new features and functionalities aren't included yet in the latest ReaMenu. I advise that you keep the default menus on the bottom as an option.

Last revision was when Reaper's version is 5.40(year 2017 wild guess) so a lot of new functionalities aren't included yet. You should keep the default menus as an option on the bottom of every ReaMenu.

When will there be an update, so we can have all newly added options in Reaper in the menus? For the time being I will keep the default menus as an option at the bottom.

I wish the author would chime in on this, maybe train someone else to do the maintenance ?

It's just customised menus (could be done directly from within Reaper's menu customisation dialog) so hard in the sense of difficult, no.
But someone would need to follow Reaper's development constantly, update ReaMenus with the new Reaper actions, decide where they should go in ReaMenus etc.
So rather time consuming - yes.

I can't quit of ReaMenus, it is very useful to me, but sometimes I have to pass of because it is not updated to the new functions. Is there a way to put the Reaper default menu access at the top of Reamenus instead of at end in bottom? I think it would be the most logical and unobtrusive way.
Sorry if it's already mentioned, where would be in the case?

I spent the last few days going through the latest versions of ReaMenus to, essentially, rewrite the whole thing into a more maintainable version with markdown-like syntax. This way, updates can be done with text editor rather than using the toolbar editor in REAPER, which, to be honest, is quite inefficient doing this kind of things.
Repository with README explaining the syntaxes.
Currently I have yet to make any major changes to the actual content, only minor edits and refactors here and there. I'm planning to add stuff from the current default menus, but I fear that I might miss some useful features that were not in the menu (sws or ReaPack actions). So please give suggestions to what content to add, and we can discuss and decide on where and how to add them.
Also, if you find this work useful, please leave a reply or a star on Github as motivation. Thanks

I've added few features from the default menu, and here's v6.0b1 pre-release:
https://github.com/RCJacH/reamenus/releases
I bumped up the major version to follow REAPER's.

I would like to report a bug or UX flaw (as I see it) in ReaMenus:
The FX window and mixer track fx slot context menus differ.
This is confusing because they have similar functionality, but the order of the options differs completely.
Imo, the options that are the same on both should look exactly the same at the top of the menu, then the differing options should live down below.

Now I've encountered a real bug in either ReaMenus or Reaper (v6.25 OSX64-clang – running on Big Sur / M1 MacBook Air):
I tried migrating my MenuSet to another Reaper install, and the Memory (Main extensions) menu fails to import. I checked the .ReaperMenuset file and the menu is definitely in there, but when I try to import all, it doesn't import.
Then I tried a single .ReaperMenu file with just the Memory menu, and it throws the following error:
"Error importing ReaperMenu
ReaperMenu file does not have menu for 'Main edit'"
This is a pretty strange error to get, considering I'm importing a totally different menu.
I have only done one change to my ReaMenus, as per the previous post. I will try downloading fresh again from the internet and importing that.
Edit: Okay I tried installing the fresh download of ReaMenus and get the same result: no Memory menu gets imported at all. Tried resetting to default and importing, nope.
Edit 2: Turns out ReaPack wasn't installed and that's why the menu couldn't display. I'm surprised exporting the configuration did not take care of migrating ReaPack and all the repos. All good now, hopefully this helps someone else.

REAPER's default menu set is too disorganized! It's off-putting to newcomers and makes the REAPER seem like it isn't the best DAW on the market.
Here comes ReaMenus to the rescue: my attempt to make REAPER easier for newcomers and at the same time, demonstrating the superb feature-set that we Reapers love so much.
As ReaMenus is meant to be of use to the entire community, please feel free to make as many suggestions as you can to help improve the set.
Remember ReaMenus values are as follows: - Easy/Usable (clarity, most used features on top)
- Organized (LABELS, context sensitivity)
- Feature-rich (as much as can be easily found)
- Small size (max-height: 600px, as narrow as possible)
- Up-to-date (always updated with most recent REAPER and SWS features)
Installation:- Save the menu set file to your computer.
- Inside REAPER, go to Options->Customize Menus/toolbars...
- Click Export->Export ALL menus/toolbars to ReaperMenuSet... and save your default set.
- Click Import. Open ReaMenus.ReaperMenuSet. (Don't worry if REAPER appears to freeze on older machines. Give it time, and your new menus will be imported properly!)
- You're done!
- If after using ReaMenus, you'd like to bring your own customized menus back, you can Import them, and only the menus that you previously customized will be restored. If you only wish to import certain of your old menus, you can edit your saved .ReaperMenuSet file and remove entirely each menu you want to discard before Importing.
- If for any reason you want to revert to the default menu set, simply use the Reset button in the Menu/Toolbars... dialog.
Notes:
ReaMenus depends on REAPER 4.62 and SWS Extensions 2.4.0.3. To my mind, REAPER is not complete without the SWS extensions. I'd love to see it's functionality folded into the core.
Special Thanks
I'd like to thank everyone for your continued suggestions and support! Together, we might be able to build the best of all possible menu sets. Keep those improvements coming!

BUG: Master track status in track menu wrong
Love ReaMenus, thanks so much.
I'm getting a bug and wondering if perhaps there is a ReaScript bug or something somewhere causing it.
Steps to reproduce:- Create a project showing the Master Track in TCP and close it
- Open that project afresh
- Right click on the Master Track to get track context menu
- Note that there is no checkbox next to Visibility > Master Track in track view
It's an annoying bug because you have to select this option TWICE to get the Master Track to go away from the TCP. Any idea what's causing it?

Oohh good to see you sir Mike Stop Continues, thank you for your hard work, it's still used by some.
Perhaps it's time for you to Continue after Stopping for a while?
Just kidding. I know it's daunting work to update reamenu than to create it, since it's now missing features for several years of reaper updates. Peace out.

Menu sets
Hi
I'm pretty new to Reaper. Do you still recommend this Menu set as it's fairly old? I clicked on the link but couldn't find the menu set because I don't know what it looks like I guess. sorry and thank you.

Well as much as I love ReaMenus thing is, as you mentioned, it's not updated regularly meaning some of the newer Reaper features don't appear in ReaMenus which I think might be confusing for someone relatively new to Reaper.

I tried ReaMenus when I just started and ditched it soon after. For starters, it made reading the documentation, and getting advice from users here, harder. The need for continuous updates (and that they aren't happening continuously) was the cherry on top. I found myself needing to drill down to the native menu submenu all the time, and then what's the point?
In the end, I found the native menus not as bad as I thought when I first opened REAPER. There's a certain logic to the dog's breakfast.

I can’t use Reaper without ReaMenus… well, I can’t be bothered to try and figure it out with ReaMenus, and I imagine I’m not the only one.

The LICEcap link is now broken, but I managed to make a custom action with Lokasenna's open file action creation script "Lokasenna_Create action to open a file... .lua"
Meanwhile, I am thinking about creating a git (Github) tool solution to the issue of menuset updates using merge etc... would you guys like this? I mean I need it so might as well open it up to anyone
