Default Import Ardour projects

Since both Reaper and Ardour use an XML-based project file layout, it shouldn't be that hard to provide functionality for importing Ardour projects.

Why do I need this? Well, Ardour is perfect for tracking, but not for mixing (limited VST capabilities, no solo/mute automation, random crashes with huge projects which cause loss of all routing and plugin settings...).

IMHO, Reaper is the best audio software for Linux, but sometimes I get dropouts, so I'm afraid of using Reaper for important recording sessions - ATM I'd prefer Ardour for recording.

I also have many older Ardour sessions on my hard drives which I like to edit in Reaper. My current mixing project was entirely recorded in Ardour, but because I want to switch (almost) completely to Reaper, I have to import the audio files manually - it's not hard to guess that it's a pain in the ass.

OK, seems like I am the only one who wants this... so I have to do it on my own.

But I WILL NOT give this program to anyone, even if you ask politely

I would like to see this as well. What sort of tool would one use to translate these?

if you're doing XML to XML, in theory you could use XSL to translate them without having to do any coding.

i'd be impressed if anyone managed to do it, though.

The Reaper project files only somewhat resemble XML, they are not actual XML.
