Default Midi track to Audio track..... Please

I know that this probably has been explained before, but I searched and searched and downloaded and read the manual and more.....
So.....being a newbie.....
Can someone explain the process of rendering down my midi and audio tracks to the one .wav file.
Lets say I have a midi file called HELP.mid, and this file loads 4 midi tracks into reaper. a Drum, Base, guitar and piano tracks.
Now if I play and record a my guitar audio track along with the midi, then delete the Guitar.midi track out.
I would like to Render this down to a .Wav file so I can listen to me with my new dinning room table band.
I know you Reaper.Old.heads might think this is redundant.. But please explain it step by step to me again.... Thanks..

Easiest way:

Get the free soundfont vsti SFZ from rgcaudio.com

Get a General MIDI soundfont from www.hammersound.net (I like to use Unison or Cadenza)

Create a track and load SFZ into the fx slot. Load the soundfont into SFZ (yes, you'll have to read the directions for it).

Point all your midi tracks at it and then render down.

Hi.

I thought I'd go to the hammersound site to see what soundfonts were available and happened to look at their Forum. Wow! - it's full of porn stuff, at least that's how it appears from the headers. I didn't open any of them. I won't be downloading anything from that site.

Looks like they had a temporary problem:

Quote:
As some of you might have noticed, the HammerSound site has not been working as it should the last few weeks.

Someone hacked into the server and managed to lock me out. And the hosting company (4every1.net / cerebrum web consulting) appears to have disappeared from the face of the earth. So, we have moved to another server - hoping that everything will work out better here.

Anyway, we’ve moved to another server, the soundfont library is back up, the user forum has changed, and there’s a new frontpage.

They are back to normal. Dont let some stupid kids temporary hack stop you from download good free soundfonts....

I agree with Tim....I've had HammerSounds as a favorite for a long time and they are on the up & up.....

cliff

p.s. tim...i have been trying every link available to the sfz player and can't find any that work. they all go to the cakewalk site but the only listing there is for SFZ+. Is the simple SFZ (free) player not available anymore?

Well, a little bit ever so slightly more complicated, but you don't have to download anything else. (FIrst, do you already have the MIDI files? I bet you're downloading songs from a Midi site and adding your own guitar. I'll go with this as the assumption)

1)Acquire MIDI file from website somewhere, let's say Holiday by Greenday.
2)Go to section 3.23 of your Reaper Handbook and read and follow the directions for importing and splitting MIDI tracks. You should know from my experience some MIDI files won't split. Some do. (The version of "Holiday" I have did). Follow ALL of the directions on this page.
3)Insert a new track. Record your guitar.
4)Find the MIDI track that just has the guitar part. Mute it or delete it.
5)"Render" and make sure that you render mastermix.
6)Enjoy your new creation.

I followed your directions.. Thanks for your help.
Jay, I was trying to take a Midi song file and was able to load it into reaper and have it split into the 7 different tracks. I wanted to play and record my guitar then delete the guitar midi track and then be able to render all tracks to a wave file. The audio guitar track will go but the Midi tracks do not record. And I did read the manuel section 3.23 and that did not explain much.
So that did not work.
TimmyO...
Success, I did download the sfc file, although it is not at rgaudio.com now, which seems like cakewalk took over that group. But I did find it at other sfc sites.
I did download the Unison Soundfont and did what you said. That does work. So now I understand what to do.
<-------
The procedure that I did was to click on a tracks FX button.. Add the SFC VST to the track then click the Rg-audio sfc box on file and then select the sound font that I want to add. In this case the Unison.sfc Unison has all the sounds in it that a GS Wavetable seems to have.
------>
However, the Unison midi sounds are not as good as the GS Wavetable SW that goes through the computer (I know that one is not so great either).

Question.(1)....So is there other multi- sounds soundfonts like Unison available? any names that you can think of?

I did download a whole $h!t Load of sfc font files now but mainly single instrument sounding fonts, and there are a lot of NOT GOOD ones. Even though they sound like an instrument, when played in a midi song at tempo or speed. they do not sound as good as the Generic wavetable sound.

Hmmm, I just repeated your problem. I'll look into what went wrong.
