[Indie Rock] Angry Talent

This is a lament about a couple of musicians who never got their act together. Pretty basic drums/guitar/bass stuff, although the guitar tuning is DADGAD which gives the chords a certain feel.

If I imagine that this is a perfect mix, then this is a really great song.
But..
1) You really don't won't us to hear you sing do you?
2) the different instruments are all over the place

Advice: If you sing, let us hear that you sing.
It's better a bad singing gets thru the mix than any singing regardless quality is buried in the mix.
Sorry for the harshness, but it's because I can hear a really good song in that mess.

Harsh is fine.
That said, I thought the vocals in the verse were quite upfront. Maybe the refrain bits are where they are buried?
When you say the instruments are all over the place, are you talking in terms of the mix, or rhythmically, or melody/harmony?

at ~1.18 the solo is quite left alone: ok
at 1.39 the vocals is disturbed by drums.
At each point you have to decide what should matter?
Overall the drums (toms) is the main culprit.
I DO like the song, otherwise we wouldn't have this conversation.
