Make track color affect only track items
Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to set color to a track in a way that only items in this track are colored, not the elements on the track control panel. I know I can set a color to an item but I would like to have items colored automatically when on certain track. I did some searching and couldn't find the answer, although I have seen some themes that looked a bit like that (they didn't have elements on track control panel colored, only some small indicators), so it should be possible at least by modifying a theme maybe?

If I understand you correctly, you want to go to
OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>APPEARANCE>TRACK CONTROL PANEL
In the top right-hand corner, you'll see "Tint track panel backgrounds". Check or un-check that, depending on what you want.
Don't forget to hit "APPLY".
This is what it looks like checked, you can see my tracks are coloured.

This is what it looks like un-checked. You can see my tracks are grey.

Thanks for the response It seems that I need to have both "Tint track panel backgrounds" and "Set track label background to custom track colors" unchecked to get the effect I want, unfortunately those only seem to work for default theme version 4 or less. On the newest 6th version of default theme both checkboxes are disabled and it looks like tinted track panel backgrounds are always on

Yes, it's feature of 5+ default themes. Some custom themes may still use old behavior. You can disable it in any theme. Not sure, but probably just removing "reaper5 theme" or something from rtconfig.txt will ublock these options.

Ok, knowing names of options it seems it was easier to find an answer. I found it here: https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=1635294, quite an old topic Solution was to change rtconfig.txt file in default v6 theme zip file. There is a line "tinttcp 298", which should be deleted, then the checkboxes in preferences are no longer greyed out and those options are properly working. Not sure why it was set by default like that.

It was changed, because people were having different issues with it. Now they don't, because it is unified. Here are the threads I've found, which may be helpful:

This is a solved problem, it just takes a while for google to realise it and stop serving up threads from the dark ages: Use WT Theme Assembler Script.

Wow, didn't know the script can do this! Also it wasn't obvious for me this area is clickable.

This is awesome. Good job making that script. I only had a problem with this [b]tcp_namebg.png[/] file on 150% layout that some people in a thread also mentioned, just copied it from one of two other layout sizes.
