Default How to make MIDI coloring *by track* bright & contrast?

Hi guys. There is one thing that does not give me rest.
I work a lot with MIDI and have many instrument sections at the same time.

The Reaper SWS has great track gradient features that allow you to distinguish all instrument sections and instruments within sections without cluttering your screen.
It so pretty and convenient for lovers of orchestral music and the like.

BUT in *coloring by track* mode notes have a gray translucent crap which:
1. With dark theme: Makes them very hard to see (especially ghost notes) (the screenshots down here)
2. With light theme: Makes them very dark, nullifies the difference between shades and just looks dirty

Using the dark theme, I find myself on what I do Ctrl+A before switching to another track. The selected notes look bright, as they should always look, I find.

Is there a way to remove the unwanted gray texture so that the notes match the color of the track without any crap. This really annoys me, because I almost found my workflow. Why in Cubase and others the notes just correspond to the color track, without any further philosophies.

I understand that scripts probably can't fix this. But it's a Reaper, it's malleable! that gray texture has to be somewhere inside. I could even pay someone to make a patch to remove this texture.

You can click on locks on the right, but this will make notes from these tracks editable.

Good idea for instrument section, but when I have several dozen instrument tracks, I'll probably ruin something when editing one of them

Agreed. Then I don't know. Maybe check some colors in:
Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window
It is action. You'll find it in Actions dialog.

I changed all colors in actions, color maps and deleted theme files and came to the conclusion that this texture is inside the reaper and it cannot be changed in the settings, only in the reaper code. But how...

Fortunately you are wrong.
In Preferences-> MIDI editor there is an option on the bottom.
Opacity (1-3)... So you need to set it to 3. Remember to reopen MIDI editor. It won't make the notes same as for active item, but still would be better.

OMG so cool man I LOVE YOU! !!

It looks much better, especially with the function "hide ghost note names".
I still would like to remove this gray texture of coloring by track mode, but now it looks so legible!

Maybe try different midi color map? Here are some that I've made:

You can set it in Preferences-> Midi editor

I liked 39179 colormap, but colormaps does not work with *color by track* mode(.
By the way, are there any developer surveys where I can submit a feature request?
I doubt it, because the developer cannot even make large fonts in the FX window and start window although it is often asked. (i know about ReaperReaders) but it doesn't work on my windows scaling so it's not a solution
