V4 Theme : WT Brawn bespoke
DOWNLOAD THEME
As a cure for confusion and general 'eh?' I have made a theme with the easiest form of client interaction : its for one guy*, bespoke, exactly what he wants. Not what I, you or anyone else wants. This chap has a very fancy control room that he keeps in a state of almost stygian darkness when working, so this theme is very, very dark. Turn off the lights, let your eyes adapt ...you may find its still too dark
We all, when it comes down to it, would ideally have a bespoke theme. This is his. You may find it useful, but it is very likely that something in it will irk you profoundly - some bits have been removed, some bits are deeply idiosyncratic, it doesn't colour very well, blah blah blah. I've followed requests to the letter, switching off my internal 'woooh, people really don't get on with things like that' voice, which has been a useful exercise in reminding me what individuals we all are, and surprisingly liberating and fun
Because this is a bespoke theme, I'm not going to do any feature requests on it, and I'm not going to make a lighter version. But if you do *cough* find any bugs, I'd love to hear about them, thanks!
* none of your business, nosey
----- Terms and conditions -----
You may use, edit, extract and generally do what you like with this theme (or any part of it) to make other themes, without asking. Please, be my guest. I do not require that you give me credit, but (as with every one else), if you don't credit your sources, everyone will know you are a bed wetter. You may not demand, request or accept payment in any form for anything based on this theme, using any of its elements, or with development based upon it in any way. You got it for free; it stays free.
------------------------------
Would you like a free bespoke theme?
I'm somewhat interested in doing this again, so if you are patient, agreeable, use Reaper for extended periods for serious work and know how to use Reaper forwards and backwards and have your own highly refined workflow then ...maybe we could have some fun and do something cool? Here's the clients I'm looking for: - Someone who does complex work on a laptop or other teeny screen.
- Someone who records huge numbers of simultaneous tracks in a high-pressure live environment.
I make no guarantees that I'll ever finish it(!) or that I won't drift off spec if things are getting too idiosyncratic, and naturally the results would be released publicly without restriction. Send me an email, not a forum private message (annoying), please!

Uhm... can I say this is utterly interesting to me?
Dark, track names on bottom in mixer, pan on top, and other things I like a lot in a theme.
May I also say thank you or am I just stealing it?

I'm not a contender for the personalized theme, not in the target group, but I hope the two of you decide to share the theme as you did with this one!
as for this theme; -Looking very sharp, I'll certainly try it on!-
Thanks for providing for us, WT!

WT, you are the king. As always. Great work, looks very impressive even if it isn't really my cup of tea. It is a tiny bit dark :-)
But those knobs are rad.

I really like the way the MCP can be large meters and avoid the normal duplicity sharing between the TCP and MCP.
That feature adds functionality I need.
The across the room Transport layout is exactly what I need as I stand while performing and have no access to the QWERTY, so the large Transport is another added comfort. So that and the MCP being just large meters has answered 2 prayers of mine w/o having to ask...
I mix entirely in the Scope DSP XITE-1 Rack so I can now run the automation track usually envelopes and MIDI notes, with the MCP at the bottom of the screen to show Kontakts levels. I have a hardware meterbridge like the old Alesis BCR for the Scope live tracks.
Those are the realtime features of your theme, that are perfect for me, plus they're dark, and I did tweak them already for further customizing.
For Editing purposes I can live with the small numbers of the Start/Length/End/BPM/Playrate/Tempo information displays.
Will there ever be a way to increase the size of those displays...?
I see the transport font in the across the room layout is large and in charge. That makes me think it's possible. A seperate window attached to a custom toolbar would be a God Send.
The semi collapsable TCP is nice and since the MCP can be meters only these work perfectly well together during editing.
This is really a very nice theme, especially for anyone who uses a control surface instead of a QWERTY.
Thank You.

This is beautiful!
I haven't tried it yet. Actually I've never really tried any other themes other than the Default(s). But if some of the elements were lightened up a little, I could see something like this replacing the current default theme.
The GUI is nicer on the eyes, even if some elements needed to lightened up a bit.
Will try it out soon.

You don't need to do any of that folder fiddling nonsense anymore. Just double click a ReaperThemeZip file and Reaper will start, copy the theme to the correct folder for you, and select it as the current theme.

Really loving it.
I love the level of detail in this theme.
It's perfect as is (just looking at it, not having used it yet). But if certain images were brighter, I could see this being the 'new' default in the future.
Do you have plans on completely replacing the current 'default' theme in the future?

One thing I'm noticing in the mixer is the peak display tenths place being cut off. This seems to happen more or less with a lot of themes. Maybe specifying the amount of digits to show would be a good WALTER FR sometime?

I can read between the lines, WT. I believe your client is Count Dracula. And over the centuries he's obviously developed some good taste.
Thanks for this.

This is simply Beautiful Mr Tie. Just goes to show what Walter is capable of in the right hands.
This one's a bit dark for me - I do like dark themes, but my eyes aren't what they used to be and this is almost pitch black!
Ps - Small bug - peak readouts on master do a little dance when you re-size in the MCP.

I don't know if this is theme specific or not, but is it possible to fix the text (of the play state) in the transport bar to fit?
*edit*
How do you get the transport bar to look the same like the one in the screen shot in the OP?

one of the better themes I saw ever...
there´re only minor things like pre-touch buttons, i-o buttons, folder buttons at tcp, but this theme is amazing...a new top level theme for reaper...

By the way, why do I get a black line in the docked windows label all the time?
In the default theme it also happens, but all other themes are OK. See attach. under "Track Manager". All docked labels have this no matter what position.

A great looking theme!
I just hate it that we cannot use our own PNG strips for knobs (YET! Hopefully...) The whole magnificent look of this theme is IMHO put off by those ugly aliased lines on knobs...

I'm in love with this theme!
A few things I noticed, though, and i'm sure i'll find more that stand out a bit.
Here's a shot of the MCP, and i'm not sure if that 'folder' icon is supposed to look like that, seems it doesn't match the theme too well. Maybe it's a problem on my end.
Here's a problem i've been having with the Default theme, as well. But I seem to be the ONLY one reporting it, lol.
The pan knobs are always getting cut off. I guess it's not just the default theme with this problem.
This one tells me we've all been trolled some how.
That's what I get when I change it to ''volume fader'' in the MASTER MIXER PANEL.
Beautiful theme, though, and it's quite possible White Tie is testing us some how.
Keep up the great work!
