Default a way to apply fx to just part of a track?

Is there a way to apply fx to just part of a track, not the whole track?

You could either select only an item in your track and press Shift+E to apply FX only on the item. The other way would be automating the dry/wet button of your plugin.

right dry wet or bypass automation

if you have the track as one long item, you could make splits [use zero crossings] and then apply the fx to just that portion
